Decreased catecholamine sensitivity and beta-adrenergic-receptor density in failing human hearts.

TL;DR: It is concluded that in failing human hearts a decrease in beta-receptor density leads to subsensitivity of the beta-adrenergic pathway and decreased beta-agonist-stimulated muscle contraction.

Cardiac Troponin T Levels for Risk Stratification in Acute Myocardial Ischemia

TL;DR: The usefulness of base-line levels of cardiac troponin T and CK-MB and the electrocardiographic category assigned at admission and the presence of confounding factors that impair the detection of ischemia were assessed to assess the usefulness of outcome.
Journal ArticleDOI

The prognostic value of serum troponin T in unstable angina.

TL;DR: Cardiac troponin T in serum appears to be a more sensitive indicator of myocardial-cell injury than serum creatine kinase MB activity, and its detection in the circulation may be a useful prognostic indicator in patients with unstable angina.
Journal ArticleDOI

Significance of Mild Transient Release of Creatine Kinase–MB Fraction After Percutaneous Coronary Interventions

TL;DR: It is shown that minor elevations in creatine kinase-myocardial band isoenzyme after successful coronary interventions identify a population with a worse long-term prognosis compared with patients with no enzyme elevations and appear to have an adverse effect on long- term prognosis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Independent prognostic value of serum creatine kinase isoenzyme MB mass, cardiac troponin T and myosin light chain levels in suspected acute myocardial infarction. Analysis of 28 months of follow-up in 196 patients.

TL;DR: Increased serum levels of CK-MB mass, troponin T and myosin light chains all detect a subgroup of 25% of patients without acute myocardial infarction who have as poor a prognosis as that of patients with a definite diagnosis of acute my Cardiac Infarction.

EDTA effect on creatine kinase (CK) and on the SCE reagent.

TL;DR: The inclusion of EDTA in the creatine kinase reagent recommended by the Scandinavian Committee on Enzymes was shown to increase reagent stability from less than 24 h to 5 days and to increase measured CK activity.
