In this paper, the relationship between renewable energy and sustainable development is discussed and the potential solutions to current environmental problems are identified along with renewable energy technologies, and an illustrative example is presented.
Abstract
Achieving solutions to environmental problems that we face today requires long-term potential actions for sustainable development. In this regard, renewable energy resources appear to be the one of the most efficient and effective solutions. That is why there is an intimate connection between renewable energy and sustainable development. Anticipated patterns of future energy use and consequent environmental impacts (focussing on acid precipitation, stratospheric ozone depletion and the greenhouse effect) are comprehensively discussed in this paper. Also, potential solutions to current environmental problems are identified along with renewable energy technologies. The relations between renewable energy and sustainable development are described with practical cases, and an illustrative example is presented. Throughout the paper several issues relating to renewable energy, environment and sustainable development are examined from both current and future perspectives. It is believed that the conclusions and recommendations drawn in the present study will be useful to energy scientists and engineers and policy makers.

Correlation between biomass burning and air pollution in China: Spatial heterogeneity and corresponding factors

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper focused on the spatial heterogeneity and corresponding factors of the biomass burning-air pollution correlation in China in recent decades (2001-2019). Multisource datasets, including satellite observations, in situ measurements, and annual statistics, were adopted for the evaluation through mathematical statistics and spatial-temporal analysis.

Capturing curtailed renewable energy in electric power distribution networks via mobile battery storage fleet

TL;DR: In this paper , a new scheduling model is proposed for the daily operation of a truck-mounted Mobile Battery Energy Storage Systems (MBES) fleet employed in a distribution network, where a portion of the renewable-based generation capacity is curtailed due to various technical reasons.

Thermal regulation and balancing inmodular multilevel converters

TL;DR: Two novel dynamic rating strategies are proposed to define the converter current injection limit as a response to the maximum semiconductor temperature feedback, which enables the exploitation of the semiconductors thermal headroom to provide short-term power overloads, which can be used for the improvement of the frequency support of a power-distressed AC grid.
