Simplified Procedures and Charts for the Rapid Estimation of Bending Frequencies of Rotating Beams

TLDR
In this paper, a Rayleigh energy approach utilizing the bending mode of the nonrotating beam in the determination of the bending frequency of the rotating beam was presented, which is evaluated and is found to give good practical results for helicopter blades.
Abstract
Note presenting a Rayleigh energy approach utilizing the bending mode of the nonrotating beam in the determination of the bending frequency of the rotating beam, which is evaluated and is found to give good practical results for helicopter blades. Charts are presented for the rapid estimation of the first three bending frequencies for rotating and nonrotating cantilever and hinged beams.

Differential equations of motion for combined flapwise bending, chordwise bending, and torsion of twisted nonuniform rotor blades

TL;DR: In this article, the differential equations of motion for the lateral and torsional deformations of twisted rotating beams are developed for application to helicopter rotor and propeller blades, and the generality is such that previous theories involving various simplifications are contained as subcases to the theory presented in this paper.

Finite element vibration analysis of rotating timoshenko beams

TL;DR: In this article, the stiffness and mass matrices of a rotating twisted and tapered beam element were derived and the effects of shear deformation and rotary inertia were also considered in deriving the elemental matrices.

Vibration analysis of rotating cantilever plates

TL;DR: In this article, a finite element technique is used to determine the natural frequencies and the mode shapes of a cantilever plate mounted on the periphery of a rotating disc, where the plate is assumed to make any arbitrary angle with the plane of rotation of the disc.

Modal analysis and shape optimization of rotating cantilever beams

TL;DR: In this paper, the geometric shape and the material property of a cantilever beam are given, and the modal characteristic variations can be accurately estimated following a well-established analysis procedure employing assumed mode method or finite element method.

Free vibration of initially stressed solids, with particular reference to centrifugal-force effects in rotating machinery

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of initial stresses due to centrifugal forces or other causes change the stiffness characteristics of a solid in a manner which can be simply formulated and incorporated in a program using isoparametric solid elements and it is shown that excellent results can be obtained for a diverse range of problems.

Frequency and Vibration Problems of Rotors

TL;DR: Theoretical studies of rotorcraft vibration and frequency problems were initiated about two years ago by the Kellett Autogiro Corporation, and culminated in this paper as mentioned in this paper, which has been confined to the frequency problems which are peculiar to hinged rotor blades.
