TLDR
In this paper, recent progress in crystal growth technology is described for typical alkali (alkali-earth) halide and oxide scintillation crystals such as NaI:Tl, CsI: Tl, Bismuth germanate (BGO), Bi4Ge3O12, Cadmium tungstate (CWO), CdWO4, and cerium-doped gadolinium silicate (GSO:Ce).

Scintillation detectors for x-rays

TL;DR: In this article, a review of recent research in the field of phosphor and scintillator materials and related detectors is presented, where the fundamental issues regarding the interaction of x-ray radiation with a solid state are explained.
Journal ArticleDOI

Recent R&D Trends in Inorganic Single-Crystal Scintillator Materials for Radiation Detection

TL;DR: The major achievements and research and development trends from the last decade in the field of single crystal scintillator materials are described in this paper, where two material families are included, namely, those of halide and oxide compounds.
Journal ArticleDOI

Luminescence of CaWO4, CaMoO4, and ZnWO4 scintillating crystals under different excitations

TL;DR: In this article, the luminescence spectra of CaWO4, CaMoO4 and ZnWO 4 scintillating crystals were investigated in the temperature range 8-400K and the excitation photon energy was varied from the ultraviolet (45eV) to the hard x-ray region (35keV).
Journal ArticleDOI

Electronic structure and optical properties of CdMoO 4 and CdWO 4

TL;DR: In this paper, the electronic structure and approximate optical properties of molybdate and tungstate materials were compared under the framework of density functional theory, and two chemically similar materials that naturally form in the scheelite and wolframite structures were compared.
Journal ArticleDOI

Solvothermal preparation, electronic structure and photocatalytic properties of PbMoO4 and SrMoO4

TL;DR: PbMoO 4 and SrMoO4 particles were successfully prepared via a simple solvothermal process as discussed by the authors, and the obtained samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area analysis, UV-vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and a photoluminescence technique with terephthalic acid.

Computerized transverse axial scanning (tomography): Part I. Description of system. 1973.

TL;DR: A technique in which X-ray transmission readings are taken through the head at a multitude of angles: from these data, absorption values of the material contained within the head are calculated on a computer and presented as a series of pictures of slices of the cranium.

Thermoluminescence of Solids

TL;DR: In this paper, theoretical background and additional factors governing thermoluminescence are discussed. But the authors focus on the geology applications and do not address the effect of temperature variations on the properties of the thermoluminant.
