Octopamine in invertebrates and vertebrates. A review.
TL;DR: This study examines the relationship between octopamine and other potential neurotransmitters in vertebrates and investigates the role ofOctopamine receptors in this relationship.

Activities of octopamine and synephrine stereoisomers on α-adrenoceptors
C. M. Brown,John C. McGrath,John M. Midgley,A. G. B. Muir,J.W. O'Brien,C. M. Thonoor,Clyde M. Williams,V.G. Wilson +7 more
TL;DR: Based upon the known selectivities of these isomers for α‐adrenoceptor subtypes, it is concluded that the rat aorta contains only α1‐ adrenoceptors while the rabbit saphenous vein possesses predominantly α2‐adereoisomer antagonists.
Book ChapterDOI
Release of Catecholamines
TL;DR: The cornerstone of the neurohumoral theory of synaptic transmission is the ability of nerves to release an active neurotransmitter on stimulation, and classical experiments in neuropharmacology were the application of sensitive and quite specific bioassays to demonstrate the release of active hormone on stimulation of a peripheral nerve.
Journal ArticleDOI
The presence of octopamine in the brain ofHelix aspersa and its action on specific snail neurones
TL;DR: L'octopamine est présente dans le tissue nerveus l'escargot,Helix aspersa, un effet fortement inhibitoire sur certains neurones sont aussi sensibles à la dopamine et à the noradrénaline.
Book ChapterDOI
Adrenergic False Transmitters
TL;DR: Recent developments in this field include stereochemical requirements for formation offalse transmitters, release of false transmitters by various stimuli, and the quantitative aspects of simultaneous release of a false transmitter and noradrenaline and their actions on adrenoceptors.
