Sorption and preconcentration of metal ions in ethanol solution with a silica gel surface chemically modified with benzimidazole.

TLDR
The adsorption isotherms of MCl(2) and FeCl(3) by silica gel chemically modified with benzimidazole molecules were studied in ethanol solution and the material was applied in the preconcentration of metal ions from commercial ethanol normally used as engine fuel.

Mesoporous silica functionalized with 2-mercaptopyridine: Synthesis, characterization and employment for Hg(II) adsorption

TL;DR: In this paper, mesoporous silicas (SBA-15 and MCM-41) have been functionalized by two different methods: using the heterogeneous route, the silylating agent, 3-chloropropyltriethriethoxysilane, was initially immobilized onto the mesophorous silica surface to give the chlorinated mesoporus silica Cl-SBA 15 or Cl-MCM 41, and in a second reaction a multifunctionalized N, S donor compound (2-mercaptopyridine,

Atomic spectrometric methods for the determination of metals and metalloids in automotive fuels--a review.

TL;DR: The main atomic spectrometric techniques used for trace metal and metalloid determination in fuels, particularly atomic absorption spectrometry with flames, graphite furnaces and with chemical vapor generation, and inductively coupled plasma coupled with optical emission and mass spectrometer are presented, including the different sample preparation procedures proposed for these techniques.

Adsorption of cadmium(II) from aqueous media onto a mesoporous silica chemically modified with 2-mercaptopyrimidine

TL;DR: In this paper, a mesoporous silica (SBA-15) has been chemically modified with 2-mercaptopyrimidine using the homogeneous route, and the resulting material has been employed as a Cd(II) adsorbent from aqueous solutions at room temperature.
