TLDR
In this article, the effect of cold rolling and annealing on the earing behavior of aluminium alloy 3004 was investigated by X-ray diffraction and it was observed that an increase in the difference between the (422 and (200) Xray intensities in the rolling plane is correlated with 45° earing.

Effect of deformation condition on plastic anisotropy of as-rolled 7050 aluminum alloy plate

TL;DR: In this paper, the plastic anisotropy of the as-rolled 7050 aluminum alloy plate was investigated by tensile tests conducted at different temperatures (340 and 460°C) and different strain rates of 1.0, 1.1, and 1.s −1.

Analytical derivation of earing in circular cup drawing based on simple tension properties

TL;DR: In this article, a simplified analytical derivation of earing development in circular cylindrical cup drawing is proposed, based on two simple tension anisotropic properties: the yield stress and the r-value.

Analysis of the earing behaviour of aluminium 3004 alloys by means of a single model based on yield loci calculated from orientation distribution functions

TL;DR: In this paper, the influence of texture on earing behavior of industrially processed 3004-type aluminium alloy sheets was studied, and a simple model for the prediction of earing was proposed, which is only suitable for the cases studied, i.e. for sheets that developed four ears in a cup test.
Journal ArticleDOI

Annealing response of 3000 and 5000 series aluminum alloys

TL;DR: In this article, the earing transition upon annealing has been found to be considerably easier for the 5000 than for the 3000 series alloys, that is, easier in the absence of Mn.

A Direct Method of Determining Preferred Orientation of a Flat Reflection Sample Using a Geiger Counter X-Ray Spectrometer

TL;DR: In this article, a new reflection method is described for determining pole figures of flat samples with a Geiger counter x-ray spectrometer, which can be used directly without corrections for changes in geometry during rotation of the sample.

Texture and earing in deep drawing of aluminium

G.E.G Tucker
- 01 Apr 1961 -
TL;DR: In this paper, a simple theoretical approach using the maximum resolved shear stress criterion for slip on {111} 〈110〉 systems is described which enables all the important features of the earing of cups pressed from single crystals to be predicted.

Influence of hot-working parameters on earing behaviour of Al–2Mg sheet

T. Sheppard, +1 more
- 01 Jan 1982 -
TL;DR: In this paper, a linear relationship exists between hot-work induced subgrain size and percentage earing for material which has been (i) hot, (ii) hot rolled and cold rolled, (iii) hot and annealed, (iv) hot-rolled, annealing, and cold-rolled.

Earing in Deep-Drawing Steels

TL;DR: In this article, the variations of the fourth-order coefficients of the crystallite orientation distribution function with rolling reduction have been determined after cold-rolling and annealing for a deep-drawing quality rimming steel and an aluminium-killed steel.
