Thermal Rearrangement of 3-Allyloxy-1,2-benzisothiazole 1,1-Dioxides: an Unusual Inversion of Products of Sigmatropic [3,3]-Shift to Give the [1,3]-Isomers

TL;DR: In this article, 3-Allyloxy-1,2-benzisothiazole 1,1-dioxides 4 isomerize thermally to give [3,3]- and [1, 3]-products 5, 6 of sigmatropic shift, of which the former reacts further to give solely the [ 1,3] isomer.

The Claisen and Cope Rearrangements

TL;DR: A comprehensive survey of the history of the Cope and Claisen rearrangements can be found in this article, where the authors survey the accumulation of the Claisen and Cope transformations recorded since the first coverage in 1944.
Book ChapterDOI

Recent developments in aromatic sigmatropic rearrangements and related reactions

TL;DR: The transition state geometry of the aromatic Claisen and Cope rearrangements is discussed in this article, showing that a boat-like geometry is involved to an extent of 40 − 90%.
Book ChapterDOI

Abnormal Claisen rearrangement

TL;DR: In this paper, the β-carbon becomes attached to the ring in the normal Claisen rearrangement product with the α-carbon becoming attached to β-Carbone. But this is not the case in this paper.
Book ChapterDOI

Chapter 3 Aromatic Rearrangements

TL;DR: The chapter analyzes the kinetic forms of the benzidine rearrangement and shows that the reaction is first-order with respect to hydrazobenzene, however, there is considerable uncertainty for the time regarding the dependence on acidity.

Thermal reorganization of α- and β-thujene : A degenerate rearrangement of the vinylcyclopropane type

TL;DR: In this article, a degenerate example of the vinylcyclopropane type of rearrangement was found in deuterium-labeled α-thujene, and the racemization was demonstrated to be degenerate.
Journal ArticleDOI

Über die sogenannte anomale CLAISEN‐Umlagerung. 2. Mitteilung

TL;DR: The mechanism of the abnormal CLAISEN rearrangement, that is the isomerisation of o-allylphenols, has been investigated using deuterium as tracer.
