Reduction in the incidence of type 2 diabetes with lifestyle intervention or metformin.
William C. Knowler,Elizabeth Barrett-Connor,Sarah E. Fowler,Richard F. Hamman,John M. Lachin,Elizabeth A. Walker,David M. Nathan +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors compared a lifestyle intervention with metformin to prevent or delay the development of Type 2 diabetes in nondiabetic individuals. And they found that the lifestyle intervention was significantly more effective than the medication.
Journal ArticleDOI
lmerTest Package: Tests in Linear Mixed Effects Models
TL;DR: The lmerTest package extends the 'lmerMod' class of the lme4 package, by overloading the anova and summary functions by providing p values for tests for fixed effects, and implementing the Satterthwaite's method for approximating degrees of freedom for the t and F tests.

Experimental Design and Data Analysis for Biologists
Gerry P. Quinn,Michael J. Keough +1 more
TL;DR: An essential textbook for any student or researcher in biology needing to design experiments, sample programs or analyse the resulting data is as discussed by the authors, covering both classical and Bayesian philosophies, before advancing to the analysis of linear and generalized linear models Topics covered include linear and logistic regression, simple and complex ANOVA models (for factorial, nested, block, split-plot and repeated measures and covariance designs), and log-linear models Multivariate techniques, including classification and ordination, are then introduced.
Journal ArticleDOI
Design and validation of a histological scoring system for nonalcoholic fatty liver disease
David E. Kleiner,Elizabeth M. Brunt,Mark L. Van Natta,Cynthia Behling,Melissa J. Contos,Oscar W. Cummings,Linda D. Ferrell,Yao Chang Liu,Michael Torbenson,Aynur Unalp-Arida,Matthew M. Yeh,Arthur J. McCullough,Arun J. Sanyal +12 more
TL;DR: A strong scoring system and NAS for NAFLD and NASH with reasonable inter‐rater reproducibility that should be useful for studies of both adults and children with any degree ofNAFLD are presented.
