TLDR
Particle aggregation, induced by lipid phase transition, could also be observed in Streptococcus faecalis membranes, but no aggregation was seen in the fracture faces of some Bacillus species and Staphylococcus aureus, and the non-appearance of aggregation could be explained by the presence of branched-chain fatty acids in the membrane lipids of these bacteria.About:

Critical role of anteiso-C15:0 fatty acid in the growth of Listeria monocytogenes at low temperatures.
TL;DR: The switch to a fatty acid profile dominated by a-C15:0 at low temperatures and the association of cold sensitivity with deficiency of a-Tn917-induced cold-sensitive mutants focus attention on the critical role of this fatty acid in growth of L. monocytogenes to cold temperature.
