The End of Time

TLDR
In this article, Barbour's Machian theories of dynamics were discussed and discussed in the context of the end of time in quantum geometrodynamics, and Barbour proposed that a Machian perspective enables one to solve the problem of time problem by saying that there is no time.
Abstract
I discuss J. Barbour's Machian theories of dynamics, and his proposal that a Machian perspective enables one to solve the problem of time in quantum geometrodynamics (by saying that there is no time). I concentrate on his recent book 'The End of Time' (1999).

The Nature of Time

TL;DR: A review of some basic facts of classical dynamics shows that time, or precisely duration, is redundant as a fundamental concept as mentioned in this paper, and that duration and the behaviour of clocks emerge from a timeless law that governs change.

The problem of time in quantum gravity

TL;DR: The problem of time in quantum gravity occurs because "time" is taken to have a dierent meaning in each of general relativity and ordinary quantum theory as discussed by the authors, which creates serious problems with trying to replace these two branches of physics with a single framework in regimes in which neither quantum theory nor general relativity can be neglected.

On the Perception of Time

TL;DR: It is shown that under this model the feeling of time is thinned out at least logarithmically and it is proved that there are, a priori, no logical incompatibilities in a model leading to the very same distribution of time perception for individuals with completely different pace and style of life.

A New Ecology: Systems Perspective

TL;DR: This book presents an overview of the systems-based, thermodynamic properties that underpin this natural growth and development, and explains the underlying ecosystem properties that can explain the environment's response to natural perturbations and human interventions.

How far are we from the quantum theory of gravity

TL;DR: In this article, an assessment of the progress that the major approaches to quantum gravity have made towards the goal of constructing a complete and satisfactory theory of gravity is offered. But the emphasis is on loop quantum gravity and string theory, although other approaches are discussed.

TL;DR: Koestler's book The Sleepwalkers as discussed by the authors is an account of the Copernican revolution, with Copernicus, Kepler, and Galilei as heroes, and he concluded that they were not really aware of what they were doing.

Counterfactual Dependence and Time’s Arrow

David Lewis
- 01 Nov 1979 -
TL;DR: In fact, it is at best doubtful whether the past depends counterfactually on the present, whether the present depends on the future, and in general whether the way things are earlier depends on how things will be later.
