TLDR
In this paper, the authors consider the null hypothesis that a time series has a unit root with possibly nonzero drift against the alternative that the process is "trend-stationary" and show how standard tests of the unit root hypothesis against trend stationary alternatives cannot reject the unit-root hypothesis if the true data generating mechanism is that of stationary fluctuations around a trend function which contains a one-time break.Abstract:
We consider the null hypothesis that a time series has a unit root with possibly nonzero drift against the alternative that the process is «trend-stationary». The interest is that we allow under both the null and alternative hypotheses for the presence for a one-time change in the level or in the slope of the trend function. We show how standard tests of the unit root hypothesis against trend stationary alternatives cannot reject the unit root hypothesis if the true data generating mechanism is that of stationary fluctuations around a trend function which contains a one-time breakread more

Dynamic Relations Between Macroeconomic Factors and the Jordanian Stock Market
TL;DR: In this article, a vector error correction model (VECM) was used to determine the impact of selected macroeconomic variables on Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) and the empirical results show that the stock prices and macroeconomics variables have a long-term equilibrium relation.

Unemployment, inflation and government popularity — are there partisan effects?
TL;DR: The authors examined whether the sensitivity of government popularity to unemployment and inflation depends on the government's ideology, and found that right governments are hurt by unemployment but not by moderate inflation, while left governments are less conclusive.

PPP and structural breaks. The peseta–sterling rate, 50 years of a floating regime
TL;DR: In this paper, structural breaks in purchasing power parity (PPP) tests are considered and two breaks are allowed, with these capturing the particular events that occurred in the monetary history of these currencies at the beginning and end of the period.

Unemployment hysteresis in OECD countries: Centurial time series evidence with structural breaks
Chien-Chiang Lee,Chun-Ping Chang +1 more
TL;DR: Lee et al. as mentioned in this paper re-examine the hypothesis of unemployment hysteresis in which the endogenously determined break points are incorporated in 14 major OECD countries by using annual data over one century in length.

Nonlinear dynamics of interest rate and inflation
TL;DR: In this article, a new nonlinear bivariate mixture autoregressive model was introduced to fit quarterly US data (1953 : II-2004 : IV) reasonably well and it was found that the three-month Treasury bill rate and inflation share a common nonlinear component that explains a large part of their persistence.

Co-integration and Error Correction: Representation, Estimation and Testing
TL;DR: The relationship between co-integration and error correction models, first suggested in Granger (1981), is here extended and used to develop estimation procedures, tests, and empirical examples.

Distribution of the Estimators for Autoregressive Time Series with a Unit Root
David A. Dickey,Wayne A. Fuller +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, the limit distributions of the estimator of p and of the regression t test are derived under the assumption that p = ± 1, where p is a fixed constant and t is a sequence of independent normal random variables.

Testing for a Unit Root in Time Series Regression
TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed new tests for detecting the presence of a unit root in quite general time series models, which accommodate models with a fitted drift and a time trend so that they may be used to discriminate between unit root nonstationarity and stationarity about a deterministic trend.

Convergence of Probability Measures
TL;DR: Weak Convergence in Metric Spaces as discussed by the authors is one of the most common modes of convergence in metric spaces, and it can be seen as a form of weak convergence in metric space.
