The Kreuzer-Skarke axiverse
TLDR
In this paper, the authors studied the topological properties of Calabi-Yau threefold hypersurfaces at large h 1,1 and showed that the Kahler cone of X is very narrow at large H 1, 1, and as a consequence, control of α′ expansion in string compactifications on X is correlated with the presence of ultralight axions.Abstract:
We study the topological properties of Calabi-Yau threefold hypersurfaces at large h1,1. We obtain two million threefolds X by triangulating polytopes from the Kreuzer-Skarke list, including all polytopes with 240 ≤ h1,1 ≤ 491. We show that the Kahler cone of X is very narrow at large h1,1, and as a consequence, control of the α′ expansion in string compactifications on X is correlated with the presence of ultralight axions. If every effective curve has volume ≥ 1 in string units, then the typical volumes of irreducible effective curves and divisors, and of X itself, scale as (h1,1)p, with 3 ≲ p ≲ 7 depending on the type of cycle in question. Instantons from branes wrapping these cycles are thus highly suppressed.read more

Superradiance in String Theory
TL;DR: In this article, an extensive analysis of the statistics of axion masses and interactions in compactifications of type IIB string theory is performed, and it is shown that black hole superradiance excludes some regions of Calabi-Yau moduli space.

Gaugino condensation and small uplifts in KKLT
TL;DR: It is argued that ten dimensional consistency requirements in the form of a certain tadpole cancellation condition can be satisfied by KKLT type vacua of type IIB string theory and a new term of non-local nature is generated dynamically once supersymmetry is broken and ensures cancellation of the tadpole.

Observing invisible axions with gravitational waves
TL;DR: In this paper, the Peccei-Quinn symmetry associated to an axion has been restored after inflation and axion strings inevitably produce a contribution to the stochastic gravitational wave background.

Recent progresses in physics of axions or axion-like particles
TL;DR: A review of axion physics with the focus on the subjects related to axion coupling hierarchies and the prospect for detecting their observational signatures can be found in this article, where an axion-like particle called the relaxion was proposed as a new solution to the weak scale hierarchy problem.

Control issues of KKLT
TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyze to which extent the KKLT proposal for the construction of de Sitter vacua in string theory is quantitatively controlled and uncover and quantify an issue which one may want to call the "singular-bulk problem".

De Sitter vacua in string theory
TL;DR: The metastable de Sitter vacua of type IIB string theory has been constructed in this article, which is a supersymmetric version of the ground state of the original ground state.

CFT's from Calabi–Yau four-folds
TL;DR: In this article, the authors consider F/M/Type IIA theory compactified to four, three, or two dimensions on a Calabi-Yau fourfold, and study the behavior near an isolated singularity in the presence of appropriate fluxes and branes.

Fuzzy cold dark matter: the wave properties of ultralight particles.
TL;DR: These problems might be solved, and the virtues of CDM models retained, even without postulating ad hoc dark matter particle or field interactions, if the dark matter is composed of ultralight scalar particles initially in a (cold) Bose-Einstein condensate, similar to axion dark matter models.

Ultralight scalars as cosmological dark matter
TL;DR: Fuzzy dark matter (FDM) as discussed by the authorsDM is an alternative to CDM, which is an extremely light boson having a de Broglie wavelength inside the galaxy.

Axion Cosmology
TL;DR: In this article, a Theta vacua of gauge theories is proposed for cosmologists. But the authors do not consider the cosmological perturbation theory of axions in string theory.
