TL;DR: The aggregate spectroscopic and electrochemical data demonstrate that (phen2N2)Fe is a more effective model of Fe-N-C active sites relative to the pyrrolic iron macrocycles, thereby establishing a new molecular platform that can aid understanding of this important class of catalytic materials.

TL;DR: In this paper, the reduction of 2-cyanopyridine by sodium in dry methanol in the presence of N(4)-methylthiosemicarbazide produces 2-pyridineformamide, HAm4M. Coordination is via the pyridyl nitrogen, imine nitrogen and thione or thiolato sulfur when coordinating as the neutral and anionic ligand, respectively.
