In this paper, a band contour model, which makes use of known spectroscopic constantd and the experimental results, satisfactorily accounts for the observed temperature dependence of the absorption coefficient.
Abstract
Mixtures of SF 6 diluted by argon were heated behind an incident shock front in the range 400 to 1500K. Absorption measurements at 11 wavelengths near 10·6 μm were made on the post-shock, equilibrated gas using a CO 2 laser. A band contour model, which makes use of known spectroscopic constantd and the experimental results, satisfactorily accounts for the observed temperature dependence of the absorption coefficient. We are able to estimate the identity of the transitions responsible for absorption of the laser radiation.

Infrared‐laser‐induced unimolecular reactions

TL;DR: In infrared photochemistry, a powerful electromagnetic wave in the infrared remains in the electronic ground state (in the Born-Oppenheimer sense) but their vibrational modes may become highly excited.

A model for unimolecular reaction of sulfur hexafluoride

TL;DR: In this paper, a model based on a rate equation formalism has been developed that includes unimolecular dissociation, collisional energy transfer (V-T processes), and absorption and emission of laser radiation.

Photon‐enhanced dissociative electron attachment in SF6 and its isotopic selectivity

TL;DR: In this article, a tunable cw CO2 laser focused collinearly with an electron beam inside a collision chamber is used to produce SF−5 by dissociative attachment of very low energy electrons to SF6.

Infrared Double Resonance in Sulfur Hexafluoride

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors monitored the relaxation of sulfur hexafluoride by observation of infrared absorption intensities following passage of an infrared laser pulse through the gas, and concluded that the rate-controlling step was the vibration→translation relaxation of the ν6 level at 363 cm−1.

Photon Echoes in Gases

TL;DR: In this article, the behavior of the photon echo produced by an inhomogeneously broadened spectral line is analyzed, with particular emphasis on the effect of spatial degeneracy of the molecular energy levels.

The vapor phase Raman spectra, Raman band contour analyses, and Coriolis constants of the spherical top molecules MF6 (MS, Se, Te, Mo, W, or U), M(CH3)4 (MC, Si, Ge, Sn, or Pb), P4, As4 and OsO4

TL;DR: In this article, the Raman spectra of four types of spherical top molecule have been recorded in the vapor phase at temperatures between 20 and 680°C. Fundamental frequencies are reported together with, where possible, the separation of the rotational branch maxima, Δ ν OP, RS of each fundamental.
