The wearable remembrance agent: a system for augmented memory

Bradley J. Rhodes
- Vol. 1, Iss: 4, pp 123-128
TLDR
The wearable remembrance agent is described, a continuously running proactive memory aid that uses the physical context of a wearable computer to provide notes that might be relevant in that context.
Abstract
This paper describes the wearable remembrance agent, a continuously running proactive memory aid that uses the physical context of a wearable computer to provide notes that might be relevant in that context. A currently running prototype is described, along with future directions for research inspired by using the prototype.

A conceptual framework and a toolkit for supporting the rapid prototyping of context-aware applications

TL;DR: A conceptual framework is presented that separates the acquisition and representation of context from the delivery and reaction to context by a context-aware application, and a toolkit is built that instantiates this conceptual framework and supports the rapid development of a rich space of context- aware applications.

Charting past, present, and future research in ubiquitous computing

TL;DR: Everyday computing is proposed, a new area of applications research, focussed on scaling interaction with respect to time, just as pushing the availiability of computing away from the traditional desktop fundamentally changes the relationship between humans and computers.

Designing Sociable Robots

TL;DR: Cynthia Breazeal presents her vision of the sociable robot of the future, a synthetic creature and not merely a sophisticated tool, and defines the key components of social intelligence for these machines and offers a framework and set of design issues for their realization.

The context toolkit: aiding the development of context-enabled applications

TL;DR: This work introduces the concept of context widgets that mediate betweent the environment and the application in the same way graphicalwidgets mediate between the user and the applications.

Providing architectural support for building context-aware applications

TL;DR: This dissertation shows how the Context Toolkit has been used as a research testbed, supporting the investigation of difficult problems in context-aware computing such as the building of high-level programming abstractions, dealing with ambiguous or inaccurate context data and controlling access to personal context.
