TLDR
This paper defines symmetric, asymmetric, and unidirectional error classes and derives the necessary and sufficient conditions for a binary code to be uniddirectional error correcting/detecting.
Abstract
In this paper we present some basic theory on unidirectional error correcting/detecting codes. We define symmetric, asymmetric, and unidirectional error classes and proceed to derive the necessary and sufficient conditions for a binary code to be unidirectional error correcting/detecting.

Delay-insensitive codes : an overview

TL;DR: In this paper, the problem of delay-insensitive data communication is described, and the notion of delayinsensitive code is defined, giving precise conditions under which it is possible to use delay-sensitive data communication.

Real-number codes for fault-tolerant matrix operations on processor arrays

TL;DR: It is proven that linearity is a necessary and sufficient condition for codes used for fault-tolerant matrix operations such as matrix addition, multiplication, transposition, and LU decomposition and for every linear code defined over a finite field, there exists a corresponding linear real-number code with similar error detecting capabilities.

Systematic Unidirectional Error-Detecting Codes

TL;DR: The theory and design of systematic t-unidirectional error-detecting codes are developed and optimal systematic codes capable of detecting 2, 3, and 6 uniddirectional errors using 2,3, and 4 check bits are given.

On t-error correcting/all unidirectional error detecting codes

TL;DR: Asymmetric error-correcting codes turn out to be a powerful tool in the proposed construction of binary systematics codes that can correct t random errors and detect more than t unidirectional errors.

A note on error detection codes for asymmetric channels

TL;DR: Some new codes are described which are separable and are perfect error detection codes in a completely asymmetric channel and the new code is found to compare favorably in error detection capability in several cases.
