Actinide speciation in the environment

TL;DR: In this article, a review of the chemistry of actinide ions in the environment is reviewed to show the spectrum of reactions that can occur in natural waters which must be considered in assessing the environmental behavior of the actinides.
Journal ArticleDOI

Trends in phytoremediation of radionuclides

TL;DR: In this paper, the current status of several subsets of phytoremediation of radionuclides is discussed: (a) phytoextraction, in which high biomass radionside-accumulating plants and appropriate soil amendments are used to transport and concentrate radions from the soil into the above-ground shoots, which are harvested with conventional agricultural methods.
Journal ArticleDOI

The isotopic signature of fallout plutonium in the North Pacific

TL;DR: In this paper, a dated coral record from the French Frigate Shoals in the central North Pacific indicates that there are two major sources of Pu in this basin: close-in (tropospheric) fallout from nuclear weapons testing at the Pacific Proving Grounds in the Marshall Islands in the 1950s and global (stratospheric), which peaked in 1962.

Complexation of trace metals in natural waters

TL;DR: In this article, a new approach to determination of trace metal complexation in natural waters, based on the voltammetric analysis of the inert metal complex, is proposed, which can evaluate the complexing capacity and apparent stability constant of the formed metal complex.
