In this paper, Cimento revisited some variational principles for the fundamental equations of a regular region of piezoelectric, thermopiez-olectric and hygrothermopiezoellectric materials in the elastic range.
Abstract
In this paper some variational principles are revisited for the fundamental equations of a regular region of piezoelectric, thermopiezoelectric, and hygrothermopiezoelectric (but non-stochastic, non-local, and non-relativistic) materials in the elastic range. Certain oversights, and especially, those involving the so-called Hu-Washizu variational principle of piezoelectricity that was first formulated in a paper (“Variational Principles in Piezoelectricity,” Lettere Al Nuovo Cimento, vol. 7, 449–454, 1973) are clarified within the “ISI-Web of Science” publications in the open literature. Similar variational principles of piezoelectricity are cited.

About heat waves

M Barrett
TL;DR: In this article, the Belgian Pilots' Guild raised the question of what effect exposure to radar radiation might have on the human body and reported that in 25 years of experience with radar, there were no known incidents of pilots being affected by radar waves.

Variational Principles in Mechanics

TL;DR: In this article, the authors define the principle of virtual work, which is a departure from other minimizing principles in that it incorporated stationarity and local stationarity in its formulation, and it is used to characterize static equilibrium through requiring that the work done by the external forces during a small displacement from equilibrium should vanish.

Review: A review of active structural control: challenges for engineering informatics

TL;DR: An active structure is an engineering structure containing sensors and actuators that, when active, modify the response of the structure to its environment as discussed by the authors, and it is a type of structural control that can be used in extreme environments (space, undersea, polar), contaminated contexts (nuclear, chemical, biological).

The elastic dielectric.

TL;DR: Slepian used an operational "definition" of stress and concluded that the compensating mechanical forces which must be introduced operationally are not derivable from a tensor.

Extension of the Euler-Bernoulli model of piezoelectric laminates to include 3D effects via a mixed approach

TL;DR: In this paper, a coupled Euler-Bernoulli model of laminated piezoelectric beams is proposed, which is characterized by accounting for the influence of 3D distribution of mechanical stresses and strains through corrected electromechanical constitutive equations.

Conservation laws and the material momentum tensor for the elastic dielectric

TL;DR: In this article, a material force in the form of a path-independent integral for the elastic dielectric is derived employing Toupin's [1] formulations, where the quantity playing the role of the physical stress tensor in this formulation is the material momentum tensor.
