In this paper, Cimento revisited some variational principles for the fundamental equations of a regular region of piezoelectric, thermopiez-olectric and hygrothermopiezoellectric materials in the elastic range.
Abstract
In this paper some variational principles are revisited for the fundamental equations of a regular region of piezoelectric, thermopiezoelectric, and hygrothermopiezoelectric (but non-stochastic, non-local, and non-relativistic) materials in the elastic range. Certain oversights, and especially, those involving the so-called Hu-Washizu variational principle of piezoelectricity that was first formulated in a paper (“Variational Principles in Piezoelectricity,” Lettere Al Nuovo Cimento, vol. 7, 449–454, 1973) are clarified within the “ISI-Web of Science” publications in the open literature. Similar variational principles of piezoelectricity are cited.

About heat waves

TL;DR: In this article, the Belgian Pilots' Guild raised the question of what effect exposure to radar radiation might have on the human body and reported that in 25 years of experience with radar, there were no known incidents of pilots being affected by radar waves.

Variational Principles in Mechanics

TL;DR: In this article, the authors define the principle of virtual work, which is a departure from other minimizing principles in that it incorporated stationarity and local stationarity in its formulation, and it is used to characterize static equilibrium through requiring that the work done by the external forces during a small displacement from equilibrium should vanish.

Review: A review of active structural control: challenges for engineering informatics

TL;DR: An active structure is an engineering structure containing sensors and actuators that, when active, modify the response of the structure to its environment as discussed by the authors, and it is a type of structural control that can be used in extreme environments (space, undersea, polar), contaminated contexts (nuclear, chemical, biological).

Unconstrained variational statements for initial and boundary-value problems via the Principle of Total Virtual Action

TL;DR: Based on the principle of total virtual action, a new procedure for constructing unconstrained variational statements for initial-boundary-value problems with or without discontinuity in the time domain was developed in this article.

Restudy of coupled field theories for micropolar continua (ii)-thermopiezoelectricity and magnetothermoelasticity

TL;DR: In this paper, the thermopiezoelectricity and magnetoelasticity for micropolar continua have been restudied and the reason why they were restricted to linear cases is analyzed.

An incremental Lagrangian formulation to the analysis of piezoelectric bodies subjected to geometric non‐linearities

TL;DR: In this paper, an incremental formulation to model geometric nonlinearities in piezoelectric solids is presented, where Lagrangian and Eulerian measures for the electric field and the electric displacement are discussed together with traditional mechanical measures.

High-frequency equations for non-linear vibrations of thermopiezoelectric shells

TL;DR: In this article, a system of 2D shear deformable equations is developed to analyze the non-linear vibrations of thermopiezoelectricity with a second sound effect.
