Vibrations of straight and curved composite beams: A review

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors review most of the research done in recent years (1989-2012) on the vibration analysis of composite beams, with emphasis given to the theory being applied (thin, thick, layerwise), methods for solving equations (finite element analysis, differential transform and others) experimental methods, smart beams (piezoelectric or shape memory), complicating effects in both material and structure, and other areas that have been considered in research.

Assessment of vibration-based damage identification techniques

TL;DR: In this article, a simple supported beam with different damage levels is used to evaluate the reliability of VBDIT-based damage identification techniques, which use only few mode shapes and/or modal frequencies of the structure that can be easily obtained by dynamic tests.

Application of the Strain Energy Damage Detection Method to Plate-like Structures

TL;DR: In this article, the problem of using measured modal parameters to detect and locate damage in plate-like structures is investigated, and a method based on the changes in the strain energy of the structure is discussed.
