TLDR
A validated, paper-based, aggregate weighted track and trigger system (AWTTS) that could serve as a template for a national early warning score (EWS) for the detection of patient deterioration is developed and demonstrated that its performance for predicting mortality (within a range of timescales) is superior to all other published AWTTSs.

Tecnologias utilizadas pela enfermagem para predição de deterioração clínica em adultos hospitalizados: revisão de escopo

TL;DR: In this article, a scoping review of the Joanna Briggs Institute Reviewer's Manual is presented, which busca o mapeamento das principais tecnologias for detecção de deterioração clínica precoce de pacientes hospitalizados disponíveis de uso do enfermeiro, sumarizando-as and indicando lacunas no conhecimento a serem investigadas.

Clinical outcomes of ultrasound-assisted coagulation monitoring-adjusted catheter-directed thrombolysis for acute pulmonary embolism.

TL;DR: In this paper , Ultrasound-assisted catheter-directed thrombolysis (USAT) was used to reverse right ventricular dysfunction due to acute pulmonary embolism (PE) with a favorable safety profile.

Why it may be problematic to conclude that NEWS has a greater ability to discriminate patients at risk of the combined outcome of cardiac arrest, unanticipated ICU admission or death than other EWSs.

TL;DR: It appears hat the ability of NEWS to discriminate patients at risk was tested n the data set where it was derived from, and it does not support that NEWS is associated with a “potential workload decrease of 23%” compared to the EWS escribed by Paterson.

Assessing Physiologic Reserve and Frailty in the Older Emergency Department Patient

TL;DR: In this paper , the authors proposed combining aggregated vitals sign scores and frailty might improve risk stratification in the ED, and implemented a senior-friendly process to ensure ED treatment is appropriate to the older patients' immediate discomfort, personal goals, and likely prognosis.

Clinical prediction system of complications among patients with COVID-19: A development and validation retrospective multicentre study during first wave of the pandemic

TL;DR: In this paper , a machine learning system was proposed to predict the risk of developing multiple complications, including secondary bacterial infection (SBI), acute kidney injury (AKI), and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).

The meaning and use of the area under a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve.

James A. Hanley, +1 more
- 01 Apr 1982 -
TL;DR: A representation and interpretation of the area under a receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve obtained by the "rating" method, or by mathematical predictions based on patient characteristics, is presented and it is shown that in such a setting the area represents the probability that a randomly chosen diseased subject is (correctly) rated or ranked with greater suspicion than a random chosen non-diseased subject.

Methods of Measuring the Concentration of Wealth

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present methods of measuring the concentration of wealth in the United States, and present a method for measuring the distribution of wealth among individuals in the USA, in terms of wealth concentration.

Validation of a modified Early Warning Score in medical admissions

TL;DR: The ability of a modified Early Warning Score (MEWS) to identify medical patients at risk of catastrophic deterioration in a busy clinical area was investigated and could be created, using nurse practitioners and/or critical care physicians, to respond to high scores and intervene with appropriate changes in clinical management.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation of adults in the hospital: A report of 14 720 cardiac arrests from the National Registry of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

TL;DR: The NRCPR is described as the first comprehensive, Utstein-based, standardized characterization of in-hospital resuscitation in the United States, with results that suggest that discharged survivors were generally good and neurological outcome in discharged survivors was generally good.
