This paper reports an exhaustive and updated compilation of phenotype and allele frequency data for phosphoglucomutase locus 1 (PGM1), obtained with an analytical isoelectric focusing technique, in human populations.
Abstract
This paper reports an exhaustive and updated compilation of phenotype and allele frequency data for phosphoglucomutase locus 1 (PGM1), obtained with an analytical isoelectric focusing technique, in human populations. The analysis of the PGM1 allele frequency distributions within and among the major human groups together with the degree of diversification evaluated by Wright's Fst, computed per allele and averaged over alleles, are also presented.

Genetic characterization of the Cayapa Indians of Ecuador and their genetic relationships to other Native American populations.

TL;DR: The results of this analysis show the close affinity between the Cayapa and other South American populations, the absence in the Amerind group of a clear-cut correspondence between linguistic classification and genetic relatedness, and the evident distinctiveness of the AmerInds from other native American people.

An anthropogenetic study on the Oromo and Amhara of central Ethiopia.

TL;DR: Blood samples from members of the Oromo and Amhara ethnic groups of central Ethiopia were tested for erythrocyte protein systems, consistent with the hypothesis, supported by historical and linguistic evidence, for a common origin of these groups from a Cushitic‐speaking group living in eastern Africa.

Biodemography and genetics of the Berba of Benin.

TL;DR: In this article, the genetic structure of the Berba of Benin was studied on the basis of biodemographic data and ABO, RH, MNS, KEL, JK, FY, ACP1, ADA, AK1, CA2, ESD, GLO1, G6PD, PGD, PGM1 (subtypes and thermostability), PGM2, PGP, SODA, HB alpha, HB beta, HB delta, BF, C3, and HP gene frequencies.

Genetic heterogeneity among the Hindus and their relationships with the other "Caucasoid" populations: new data on Punjab-Haryana and Rajasthan Indian states.

TL;DR: PGM1 subtyping turned out to discriminate between the Dravidian-speaking and the Indo-Aryan-speaking Hindus, and shows a clear-cut separation of Hindus from Europeans, with Near Eastern and Middle Eastern populations genetically in an intermediate position.
Journal Article

Linkage disequilibrium at the human phosphoglucomutase 1 locus.

TL;DR: In all the populations the disequilibrium was found to be due to an excess of 1A and 2B haplotypes, although this direction is the opposite of that expected according to the proposed phylogeny of the system.

The interpretation of population structure by F-statistics with special regard to systems of mating

TL;DR: It was found that there is no equilibrium in either case short of complete fixation locally, in spite of the linear increase in number of different ancestors with increasing number of ancestral generations, in contrast to systems (half first cousin or second cousin) in which this increase is more than linear and a steady state is rapidly attained with respect to heterozygosis.

The Settlement of the Americas: A Comparison of the Linguistic, Dental, and Genetic Evidence

TL;DR: The classification of the indigenous languages of the Americas by Greenberg distinguishes three stocks, Amerind, Na-Dene, and Aleut-Eskimo, and the evidence regarding the absolute chronology of these proposed migrations is discussed in this article.
