This paper proposes a new dc capacitor voltage control method suitable for active power filters equipped with a small dc capacitor.
This shows that the unit with digital scroll compressor is well adapted to the variable air volume running and good for the economical and reliable operation of the ducted AC unit.
Furthermore, this paper serves as a useful and practical guideline to assist in the implementation of an appropriate capacitor allocation technique.
Besides, to add one bit, the dummy capacitor is reused which is realized by C–2C structure instead of the unit capacitor C. Compared to the conventional architecture, the proposed capacitor switching method achieves 99.6 % energy saving and 87.21 % capacitor area reduction, respectively.

This study introduces a new concept of portable air conditioner which integrated with some available components in automotive air conditioning system.
