TL;DR: The expansion of the traditional techniques for the division of secrets and the development of the so-called linguistic threshold schemes, a new concept based on the traditional algorithms of the Division of information which additionally introduces the stage of linguistic conversion of shared data using specially defined formal grammar are focused on.
Abstract: One issue which is essential for the security of calculations and communication as well as the ability to guarantee data confidentiality is intelligent threshold division of strategic information that may later be passed on to a group of authorized users for reconstruction and shared use. Enabling such division of information acquires particular significance with regard to the management of important and confidential data by various national institutions, corporations or strategic (military) units. It seems that these techniques will become increasingly more important along with the growing number of their applications. The division of confidential information is inevitably related to the cryptographic algorithms of the division of secrets. Relying on these techniques, this paper will focus on two issues. The first is the expansion of the traditional techniques for the division of secrets and the development of the so-called linguistic threshold schemes, a new concept based on the traditional algorithms of the division of information which additionally introduces the stage of linguistic conversion of shared data using specially defined formal grammar. The other is the demonstration of how linguistic threshold schemes thus developed may be used to manage secret data in a variety of selected organizational structures.

TL;DR: This article reviewed research on children and adults' use of shortcut procedures that make use of the inverse relation between multiplication and division on two kinds of problems: inversion problems and associativity problems.
Abstract: Researchers have speculated that children find it more difficult to acquire conceptual understanding of the inverse relation between multiplication and division than that between addition and subtraction. We reviewed research on children and adults’ use of shortcut procedures that make use of the inverse relation on two kinds of problems: inversion problems (e.g., \( {9} \times {24} \div {24} \)) and associativity problems (e.g., \( {9} \times {24} \div {8} \)). Both can be solved more easily if the division of the second and third numbers is performed before the multiplication of the first and second numbers. The findings we reviewed suggest that understanding and use of the inverse relation between multiplication and division develops relatively slowly and is difficult for both children and adults to implement in shortcut procedures if they are not flexible problem solvers. We use the findings to expand an existing model, highlight some similarities and differences in solvers’ use of conceptual knowledge across operations, and discuss educational implications of the findings.

TL;DR: From these studies, a picture emerges that diverse biological systems follow simple universal rules of geometry to select their division planes and that the microtubule cytoskeleton takes a major part in sensing the geometric information and translates this information into a specific division outcome.
Abstract: Coordinated cell divisions and cell expansion are the key processes that command growth in all organisms. The orientation of cell divisions and the direction of cell expansion are critical for normal development. Symmetric divisions contribute to proliferation and growth, while asymmetric divisions initiate pattern formation and differentiation. In plants these processes are of particular importance since their cells are encased in cellulosic walls that determine their shape and lock their position within tissues and organs. Several recent studies have analyzed the relationship between cell shape and patterns of symmetric cell division in diverse organisms and employed biophysical and mathematical considerations to develop computer simulations that have allowed accurate prediction of cell division patterns. From these studies, a picture emerges that diverse biological systems follow simple universal rules of geometry to select their division planes and that the microtubule cytoskeleton takes a major part in sensing the geometric information and translates this information into a specific division outcome. In plant cells, the division plane is selected before mitosis, and spatial information of the division plane is preserved throughout division by the presence of reference molecules at a distinct region of the plasma membrane, the cortical division zone. The recruitment of these division zone markers occurs multiple times by several mechanisms, suggesting that the cortical division zone is a highly dynamic region.

TL;DR: In this article, a storage controller is configured to determine a post-write reliability metric of a storage division of a solid-state storage medium based on one or more test read operations.
Abstract: A storage controller is configured to determine a reliability metric of a storage division of a solid-state storage medium based on one or more test read operations. The storage division may be retired based on the reliability metric and/or the age of the data on the storage division. A storage division comprising aged data may be marked for post-write reliability testing, which may comprise determining a post-write reliability metric in response to grooming and/or reprogramming the storage division. The storage controller may project the reliability metric of the storage division to the end of a predetermined data retention period. Portions of a storage divisions that exhibit poor reliability may be removed to improve the reliability of the storage division without taking the entire storage division out of service.

TL;DR: In this paper, a model for the mental representation of inflectional paradigms of Italian verbs is proposed, which aims at reducing complexity not by reducing all forms to unity, but by describing the relations between stems and by reducing the inventory of their possible configurations, or stem spaces.
Abstract: The paper proposes a reassessment of the division of Italian verbs into classes, and proposes a model for the mental representation of inflectional paradigms. The treatment is rooted in a thematic model of morphology, according to which the identification of a unique (basic) form for lexemes is not a priority, not even for the regular ones. Rather, it is assumed that lexemes may be stored in the lexicon as complex entries containing different phonological forms, called stems. The model proposed aims at reducing complexity not by reducing all forms to unity, but by describing the relations between stems and by reducing the inventory of their possible configurations, or stem spaces.

Abstract: This paper focuses on improving the performance of non-restoring division by reducing the delay and finding a correct quotient quickly Although the non-restoring division algorithm is the fastest and has less complexity than other radix-2 digit recurrent division algorithms, there are still some possibilities to enhance its performance To improve its performance, two new approaches are proposed here For the first proposed approach, a non-restoring divider with a modified algorithm is presented The new algorithm changes the order of the flowchart, which reduces one unit delay of the multiplexer per iteration Secondly, a new method to find a correct quotient is presented and it removes an error that the quotient is always odd number after a digit conversion from a digit converter from the quotient with digits 1 and −1 to a conventional binary number The new logic to generate the LSB of the quotient quickly is also explained in this paper

Abstract: The invention discloses a method for reconstructing a model after drilling a surface grid model of a rigid object, which aims to simplify a three-dimensional Boolean operation problem into a two-dimensional Boolean operation problem and reduce the computational complexity of an intersecting detection process of in model Boolean operation so as to achieve the real-time performance of model reconstruction. The method comprises the following steps of: firstly detecting triangular surface sheets intersected with cutting curved surfaces, moving grid peaks outside the intersected curved surfaces ofthe triangular surface sheets onto the cutting curved surfaces, then preprocessing model surface grids to realize the classified division of the triangular surface sheets on the surface of the grid model, and finally dynamically reconstructing the grid model in Boolean operation geometric processing. A two-dimensional Boolean operation processing method can be directly adopted to realize the Boolean operation geometric processing for the grid model in three-dimensional space, thereby saving the process of space division on the surface of the model, simplifying an intersecting detection algorithm, improving the operation efficiency and achieving the effect of real-time processing.

TL;DR: Capacitive Division Image Readout (C-DIR) as mentioned in this paper is a simple method of implementing charge division readout with major performance advantages and which is simple and economical to construct, which utilizes three elements; (i) a resistive layer providing event charge localization and DC signal current return path, (ii) a dielectric substrate which provides electrical isolation from the detector voltages and capacitively couples the event transient signal to the third element, (iii) an array of capacitive coupled electrodes which divides the signal among several charge measurement nodes.
Abstract: The charge division technique is a simple concept used in photon-counting imaging detectors to determine one or two-dimensional event coordinates by location of the centroid of the charge cloud generated in the detector. Traditional devices, such as the resistive anode and wedge-and-strip anode, utilize resistive and geometric methods respectively to implement this technique, enabling them to achieve reasonably good spatial resolution at moderate event rates using a low electronic channel count. We describe the Capacitive Division Image Readout (C-DIR), a simple method of implementing charge division readout with major performance advantages and which is simple and economical to construct. C-DIR utilizes three elements; (i) a resistive layer providing event charge localization and DC signal current return path, (ii) a dielectric substrate which provides electrical isolation from the detector voltages and capacitively couples the event transient signal to the third element, (iii) an array of capacitively coupled electrodes which divides the signal among several charge measurement nodes. The purely capacitive signal paths have high bandwidth and present a low capacitive load to the preamplifiers, allowing an unprecedented combination of excellent event time and spatial resolution. We present simulations and experimental results demonstrating the performance advantages of the device and discuss various readout design alternatives, optimized electronics and potential applications.
