TL;DR: The connection between the dual spinor model and supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories was studied in this article, where it was shown that in the low-energy region, the dual-spinor model yields a supersymmemic Yang-mills theory with O(4) internal symmetry.
Abstract: We study the connection between the dual spinor model and supersymmetry. We show that in the low-energy region, the dual spinor model yields a supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with O(4) internal symmetry and a supergravity theory with O(4) internal symmetry.

TL;DR: A geometrical interpretation of the classification of supersymmetric /ital p/-dimensional extended objects shows that the action describing such an object exists by virtue of a nontrivial class of the Chevalley-Eilenberg cohomology of superspace, considered as the super translation group.
Abstract: We provide a geometrical interpretation of the classification of supersymmetric /ital p/-dimensional extended objects. Specifically, we show that the action describing such an object exists by virtue of a nontrivial class of the (/ital p/+2)th Chevalley-Eilenberg cohomology of superspace, considered as the super translation group.

TL;DR: In this paper, the structure of ultraviolet divergence cancellations in supersymmetric field theories is reviewed and various nonrenormalization theorems of superspace perturbation theory, both for extended and simple supersymmetry, are applied to super Yang-Mills theories in four and higher dimensions.
Abstract: We review the structure of ultraviolet divergence cancellations in supersymmetric field theories. We discuss the various nonrenormalization theorems of superspace perturbation theory, both for extended and for simple supersymmetry. These theorems and the background field method are applied to super Yang-Mills theories in four and higher dimensions, to supergravity theories and to two-dimensional supersymmetric nonlinear σ-models.

TL;DR: In this article, the theory of superspace groups is applied to (snS)1.17NbS2 and it is shown that the symmetry is fully characterised by the (3+1)-dimensional superspace group P11sCm2m( alpha 00).
Abstract: The misfit layer compound (SnS)1.17NbS2 belongs to the class of intergrowth compounds. In the simplest approximation, the structure can be described as that of two interpenetrating sublattices. The true structure consists of two interpenetrating, incommensurately modulated structures. In this paper the theory of superspace groups is applied to (SnS)1.17NbS2. It is shown that the symmetry is fully characterised by the (3+1)-dimensional superspace group P11sCm2m( alpha 00). Definitions of the component structure space groups and superspace groups are given. For the NbS2 part they are found to be G1=Cm2m and Gs1=P11sCm2m. For the SnS part the authors obtain G2=Cm2a and Gs2=P111Cm2a. It is shown that this unified approach gives more information about the symmetry than when the subsystems are considered independently. One result is that in a structure refinement fewer possibilities have to be considered. Finally, the superspace group is used to derive the symmetry restrictions on the modulation functions of both subsystems.

TL;DR: In this article, an extra supersymmetry present in the covariantly quantized Chern-Simons action within the superfield formalism is discussed, where scalar superfields are introduced.
Abstract: We discuss an extra supersymmetry present in the covariantly quantized Chern-Simons action within the superfield formalism By introducing scalar superfields we show how the component transformations are naturally reproduced from the superfield transformation When the superspace is extended to include an additional odd coordinate for the BRST symmetry, the entire theory is described by a single odd scalar superfield The implications of this supersymmetry for the renormalized theory are also discussed

TL;DR: In this paper, a class of non minimal extensions of anomaly free D=10, N=1SUGRA-SYM, formulated in superspace, is proposed, which are obtained modifying suitably standard superspace constraints of the minimal one.
Abstract: A class of non minimal extensions of anomaly free D=10, N=1SUGRA—SYM, formulated in superspace, is proposed. The new models are obtained modifying suitably standard superspace constraints of the minimal one. It is shown that the proposed models are likely to accommodate the effective four-bosons superstring amplitudes. The relation existing between consistently quantized heterotic string sigma models and the consistency of our construction is exhibited.

TL;DR: In this article, a consistency condition for the anomalies, allowing to study their general structure, has been obtained, and the anomalies of the κ-symmetry can be absorbed by consistent quantum corrections of torsion and curvatures leading to superspace constraints in agreement with those considered in recent studies on SUGRA-SYM.
Abstract: In this paper, the quantum heterotic Green and Schwarz superstring in Yang-Mills and curved superspace background is investigated. A consistency condition for the anomalies, allowing to study their general structure, has been obtained. We have found that the anomalies of the κ-symmetry can be absorbed by consistent quantum corrections of torsion and curvatures leading to superspace constraints in agreement with those considered in recent studies on SUGRA-SYM models. Moreover we suggest that the world sheet conformal and Lorentz anomalies vanish if the κ-anomalies are cancelled.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors considered the superstring induced N=1D=4 supergravity model and derived the form of the coupling in the new minimal model retrieving in this case the results of Cecotti, Ferrara and Villasante.
Abstract: The linear multiplet, composed of the dilaton ϕ, of an antisymmetric gauge field Bμν and of a spinor χ is always present in any superstring induced N=1D=4 supergravity model. We consider its coupling to supergravity using only superspace Bianchi identities and the rheonomy approach. In this way, our results are fully general and independent from the choice of any Lagrangian, a concept which is never mentioned in this paper. We consider two situations corresponding to two different free differential algebras: (1) the case where there are no Chern-Simons terms in the Bμν field strength Hμνρ and (2) the case where such terms are included in Hμνρ. Case (2) is obviously the one chosen by string theory on the ground of anomaly cancellation. In both cases, we must solve the H-Bianchi identity using a solution of the super Poincare’ Bianchi identities as a background. Such a solution, besides the physical fields displays a certain number of auxiliary fields. The most general solution of the super Poincare’ Bianchis we have to consider corresponds to 16⊕16 off-shell multiplet which, by suitable choices can be reduced either to the so-called old minimal or to the new minimal 12⊕12 multiplet. We give the general solution of the H-Bianchi within the 16⊕16 formulation both with and without Chern-Simons terms. This is done through the D=4 analogue of Bonora-Pasti-Tonin theorem of the 10D anomaly free supergravity. By specializing our parameters, we obtain the form of the coupling in the new minimal model retrieving in this case the results of Cecotti, Ferrara and Villasante. In addition we clarify the geometrical meaning of R-symmetry showing that in the absence of Chern-Simons forms, the condition for the embedding of the linear multiplet into the Kaehler manifold spanned by the chiral multiplets (existence on of a U(1) Killing vector) is the same condition which guarantees the existence of a local Weyl transformation by means of which the 16⊕16 curvatures can be reduced to the new minimal form and the scalar complex scalar auxiliary field S can be set to zero. Finally, we discuss the arbitrariness contained in the solution of the H-Bianchi identities at the level of the (0, 3) superspace sector. We derive the D=4 analogue of the superspace cocycle which is responsible for the Grisaru-Zanon R4-terms in the D=10 case.

Abstract: We employ a gauge two-form $B_{\underline{ab}} $ in place of the pseudoscalar B' to produce a version of on-shell D=4, N=4 superspace supergravity with SU(4) symmetry The replacement is accomplished using the Chern-Simons forms associated with the six spin-1 fields of N=4 supergravity Finally, a Green-Schwarz action is presented and the relation of the theory to the N=4, D=4 heterotic string is exhibited
