Oxygen and hydrogen evolution reactions on Ru, RuO2, Ir, and IrO2 thin film electrodes in acidic and alkaline electrolytes: A comparative study on activity and stability
Serhiy Cherevko,Simon Geiger,Olga Kasian,Nadiia Kulyk,Jan-Philipp Grote,Alan Savan,Buddha Ratna Shrestha,Sergiy Vasil´ović Merzlikin,Benjamin Breitbach,Alfred Ludwig,Karl Johann Jakob Mayrhofer +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated the stability and activity of iridium and ruthenium thin film electrodes in acidic and alkaline electrolytes using an electrochemical scanning flow cell (SFC) connected to an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS).
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of Quaternary Shape Memory Alloys with Near‐Zero Thermal Hysteresis and Unprecedented Functional Stability
Robert Zarnetta,Ryota Takahashi,Ryota Takahashi,Marcus L. Young,Alan Savan,Yasubumi Furuya,Sigurd Thienhaus,Burkhard Maaß,Mustafa Rahim,Jan Frenzel,Hayo Brunken,Yong S. Chu,Yong S. Chu,Vijay Srivastava,Richard D. James,Ichiro Takeuchi,Gunther Eggeler,Alfred Ludwig +17 more
TL;DR: In this article, the lattice parameters of quaternary shape memory alloys and the thermal hysteresis were tailored by using a thin-film composition-spread technique and high-throughput characterization methods.
Journal ArticleDOI
Discovery of a Multinary Noble Metal–Free Oxygen Reduction Catalyst
Tobias Löffler,Hajo Meyer,Alan Savan,Patrick Wilde,Alba Garzón Manjón,Yen-Ting Chen,Edgar Ventosa,Christina Scheu,Alfred Ludwig,Wolfgang Schuhmann +9 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Toward a Paradigm Shift in Electrocatalysis Using Complex Solid Solution Nanoparticles
Tobias Löffler,Alan Savan,Alba Garzón-Manjón,Michael Meischein,Christina Scheu,Christina Scheu,Alfred Ludwig,Wolfgang Schuhmann +7 more
TL;DR: Complex solid solution (CSS) nanoparticles were recently discovered as efficient electrocatalysts for a variety of reactions as mentioned in this paper, and they exhibit the potential to replace noble-metal catalysts with multinary combinations of transition metals because they offer formation of new unique and tailorable active sites of multiple elements located next to each other.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mechanical and tribological performance of MoS2 co-sputtered composites
TL;DR: In this paper, a set of co-sputtered films of MoS2 with Au, Ti, Cr or WSe2, respectively, have been deposited in order to investigate the relationships between dopant and tribological and mechanical behaviour.
