Journal ArticleDOI
International Clostridium difficile animal strain collection and large diversity of animal associated strains.
Sandra Janezic,Valerija Zidaric,Bart Pardon,Alexander Indra,Branko Kokotovic,José L. Blanco,Christian Seyboldt,Cristina Rodriguez Diaz,Ian R. Poxton,Vincent Perreten,Ilenia Drigo,Alena Jiraskova,Matjaz Ocepek,J. Scott Weese,J. Glenn Songer,Mark H. Wilcox,Maja Rupnik +16 more
TL;DR: Although PCR ribotype 078 is often reported as the major animal C. difficile type, especially in pigs, the variability of strains in pigs and other animal hosts is substantial and most common human PCR ribotypes (014/020 and 002) are also among most prevalent animal associated C.difficile strains worldwide.
Journal ArticleDOI
Long‐term follow‐up of Wilson Disease: natural history, treatment, mutations analysis and phenotypic correlation
Radan Bruha,Z. Mareček,Lenka Pospisilova,Sona Nevsimalova,Libor Vítek,Pavel Martásek,Jiri Nevoral,Jaromir Petrtyl,Petr Urbánek,Alena Jiraskova,Peter Ferenci +10 more
TL;DR: The aim of this study was to describe the long‐term outcome of a cohort of patients with Wilson disease and to assess those factors affecting the phenotypic manifestation of WD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of serum bilirubin and promoter variations in HMOX1 and UGT1A1 genes with sporadic colorectal cancer.
Alena Jiraskova,Jan Novotný,Ladislav Novotný,Pavel Vodicka,Pavel Vodicka,Barbara Pardini,Alessio Naccarati,Harvey A. Schwertner,Jaroslav A. Hubacek,Lucie Punc̆ochár̆ová,Zdenek Smerhovský,Libor Vítek +11 more
TL;DR: UGT1A1*28 allele carrier status might be a protective factor against the development of CRC in the male population, whereas low serum bilirubin levels are associated with an increased risk of CRCIn both genders.
Journal ArticleDOI
The relationship between serum bilirubin and Crohn's disease.
Martin Lenicek,Dana Ďuricová,Ondrej Hradsky,Petra Dusatkova,Alena Jiraskova,Milan Lukas,Petr Nachtigal,Libor Vítek +7 more
TL;DR: CD is associated with significantly low serum bilirubin levels, most likely as a result of increased oxidative stress accompanying this inflammatory disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of bilirubin reduction products formed by Clostridium perfringens isolated from human neonatal fecal flora.
Libor Vítek,Filip Majer,Lucie Muchová,Jaroslav Zelenka,Alena Jiraskova,Pavel Branný,Jiří Malina,Karel Ubik +7 more
TL;DR: End-catabolic bilirubin products were identified to belong to urobilinogen species, the reduction process, catalyzed enzymatically by the studied bacterial strain, does not proceed to stercobilinogen.
