So far in this course we have dealt entirely with the evolution of characters that are controlled by simple Mendelian inheritance at a single locus. There are notes on the course website about gametic disequilibrium and how allele frequencies change at two loci simultaneously, but we didn’t discuss them. In every example we’ve considered we’ve imagined that we could understand something about evolution by examining the evolution of a single gene. That’s the domain of classical population genetics. For the next few weeks we’re going to be exploring a field that’s actually older than classical population genetics, although the approach we’ll be taking to it involves the use of population genetic machinery. If you know a little about the history of evolutionary biology, you may know that after the rediscovery of Mendel’s work in 1900 there was a heated debate between the “biometricians” (e.g., Galton and Pearson) and the “Mendelians” (e.g., de Vries, Correns, Bateson, and Morgan). Infectious complications of long-term intravenous epoprostenol therapy in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension

Prava komora (PK) hraje klicovou roli v kardiovaskularnim výkonu sportovců, přesto je oproti leve komoře opomijeným tematem. Arytmogenni kardiomyopatie postihujici casto dominantně PK je jednou z nejcastějsich přicin umrti vrcholových sportovců předevsim v evropských zemich. Screening a diferencialni diagnostika patologie PK u vrcholových sportovců může být obtižna. Prava komora prodělava v ramci fyziologicke adaptace na zatěž významne změny vcetně dilatace a odliseni fyziologických změn od kardiovaskularni patologie vyžaduje specificka kriteria. Cilem clanku je shrnuti poznatků o fyziologicke adaptaci PK u sportovců, tak jak se projevuji na EKG a v zobrazovacich metodach. Dale jsou probirana specifika diferencialni diagnozy u sportovců s fyziologickou remodelaci PK zejmena proti arytmogenni kardiomyopatii PK. © 2020, CKS.

Cor Vasa 2008;50(12):486–487 Úvod: Ruptura komorového septa u nemocných s akutním infarktem myokardu (AIM) patří k tzv. mechanickým komplikacím AIM. Reperfuzní léčba výskyt ruptury komorového septa snížila. Jedná se o závažnou komplikaci s vysokou mortalitou. Časná diagnostika a agresivní léčba, včetně chirurgické, zlepšuje jinak velmi špatnou prognózu těchto kriticky nemocných, zvláště pokud dojde k rozvoji nízkého minutového výdeje nebo multiorgánového selhání. V recentní literatuře se objevila první kasuistická sdělení a malé soubory hodnotící klinickou použitelnost perkutánního uzávěru akutního defektu komorového septa při infarktu myokardu. Popis případu: 55letý kuřák, diabetik, byl přeložen na naše oddělení pro nezvladatelné oboustranné srdeční selhání. Asi šest týdnů před přijetím udával anamnesticky klidovou bolest na hrudi, která pominula po požití alkoholu. Týden před přijetím k nám byl hospitalizován v jiné nemocnici pro progredující Katetrizační uzávěr defektu komorového septa při infarktu myokardu
