Journal ArticleDOI
White matter differences in euthymic bipolar I disorder: a combined magnetic resonance imaging and diffusion tensor imaging voxel-based study.
Louise Emsell,Louise Emsell,Camilla Langan,Wim Van Hecke,Gareth J. Barker,Alexander Leemans,Stefan Sunaert,Peter McCarthy,Rachel Nolan,Dara M. Cannon,Colm McDonald +10 more
TL;DR: The nature and extent of neuroanatomical differences in a large, clinically homogeneous group of euthymic bipolar disorder patients is sought to clarify.
Journal ArticleDOI
Distribution of tract deficits in schizophrenia
Ian Ellison-Wright,Ian Ellison-Wright,Pradeep J. Nathan,Pradeep J. Nathan,Pradeep J. Nathan,Edward T. Bullmore,Edward T. Bullmore,Rashid Zaman,Rashid Zaman,Robert B. Dudas,Robert B. Dudas,Mark Agius,Mark Agius,Emilio Fernandez-Egea,Emilio Fernandez-Egea,Ulrich Müller,Ulrich Müller,Chris M. Dodds,Natalie J. Forde,Cathy Scanlon,Alexander Leemans,Colm McDonald,Dara M. Cannon +22 more
TL;DR: In schizophrenia, white matter diffusion deficits are prominent in medial frontal regions and are consistent with the results of previous studies which have detected white matter changes in these areas.
Journal ArticleDOI
White matter microstructural abnormalities in families multiply affected with bipolar I disorder: a diffusion tensor tractography study
Louise Emsell,Chris Chaddock,Natalie J. Forde,W. Van Hecke,Gareth J. Barker,Alexander Leemans,Stefan Sunaert,Muriel Walshe,Elvira Bramon,Dara M. Cannon,Robin M. Murray,Colm McDonald +11 more
TL;DR: WM microstructural abnormalities in limbic, temporal and callosal pathways represent micro structural abnormalities associated with BD whereas alterations in the SLF and UF may represent potential markers of endophenotypic risk.
Journal ArticleDOI
Brain Connectomics of Visual-Motor Deficits in Children with Developmental Coordination Disorder
Julie Debrabant,Guy Vingerhoets,Hilde Van Waelvelde,Alexander Leemans,Tom Taymans,Karen Caeyenberghs +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, diffusion magnetic resonance imaging-based tractography was used to identify abnormal microstructural properties of specific sensorimotor white matter tracts in 21 children with developmental coordination disorder between 8 and 10 years of age and 20 age and sex-matched typically developing controls.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential corticospinal tract degeneration in homozygous ‘D90A’ SOD-1 ALS and sporadic ALS
Camilla Blain,Simon Brunton,Victoria C. Williams,Alexander Leemans,Martin R Turner,Peter M. Andersen,Marco Catani,Biba R. Stanton,J. Ganesalingham,Derek K. Jones,Steven Williams,Peter Leigh,Andrew Simmons +12 more
TL;DR: Diffusion tensor tractography has shown axonal degeneration within the intracerebral portion of the corticospinal tract in sporadic ALS patients, but not those with a homogeneous form of familial ALS, suggesting significant genotypic influences on the phenotype of ALS and may provide clues to slower progression of disease in homD90A patients.
