Journal ArticleDOI
PGC-1α promotes recovery after acute kidney injury during systemic inflammation in mice
Mei Tran,Denise Tam,Amit Bardia,Manoj Bhasin,Glenn C. Rowe,Ajay Kher,Zsuzsanna K. Zsengellér,M. Reza Akhavan-Sharif,Eliyahu V. Khankin,Magali Saint-Geniez,Sascha David,Deborah Burstein,S. Ananth Karumanchi,Isaac E. Stillman,Zoltan Arany,Samir M. Parikh +15 more
TL;DR: It is shown that endotoxemia reduces oxygen delivery to the kidney, without changing tissue oxygen levels, suggesting reduced oxygen consumption by the kidney cells, and that PGC-1α induction may be necessary for recovery from this disorder.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sugammadex versus Neostigmine for Reversal of Neuromuscular Blockade and Postoperative Pulmonary Complications (STRONGER): A Multicenter Matched Cohort Analysis
Sachin Kheterpal,Michelle T. Vaughn,Timur Dubovoy,Nirav Shah,Lori D. Bash,Douglas A. Colquhoun,Amy Shanks,Michael R. Mathis,Roy G. Soto,Amit Bardia,Karsten Bartels,Patrick J. McCormick,Robert B. Schonberger,Leif Saager,Leif Saager +14 more
TL;DR: Among a generalizable cohort of adult patients undergoing inpatient surgery at U.S. hospitals, the use of sugammadex was associated with a clinically and statistically significant lower incidence of major pulmonary complications.
Journal Article
A history of streptokinase use in acute myocardial infarction.
Nikhil Sikri,Amit Bardia +1 more
TL;DR: The Gruppo Italiano per la Sperimentazione della Streptochinasi nell'Infarto Miocardico (GISSI) trial in 1986 not only validated streptokinase as an effective therapeutic method but also established a fixed protocol for its use in acute myocardial infarction.
Journal ArticleDOI
Waist circumference measurement by site, posture, respiratory phase, and meal time: implications for methodology.
Sunil K. Agarwal,Anoop Misra,Anoop Misra,Priyanka Aggarwal,Amit Bardia,Ruchika Goel,Ruchika Goel,Naval K. Vikram,Jasjeet S. Wasir,Nazia Hussain,Krithika Ramachandran,Ravindra Mohan Pandey +11 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that the site of measurement, posture, phase of respiration, and time since last meal should be standardized for the development of a protocol for measurement of WC for worldwide use.
Journal ArticleDOI
Combined Epidural-General Anesthesia vs General Anesthesia Alone for Elective Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair.
Amit Bardia,Akshay Sood,Akshay Sood,Feroze Mahmood,Vwaire Orhurhu,Vwaire Orhurhu,Ariel Mueller,Mario Montealegre-Gallegos,Marc Shnider,Klaas H.J. Ultee,Marc L. Schermerhorn,Robina Matyal +11 more
TL;DR: Combined EA-GA was associated with improved survival and significantly lower HRs and ORs for mortality and morbidity in patients undergoing elective AAA repair and should be strongly considered in suitable patients.
