TH17 cells express ST2 and are controlled by the alarmin IL-33 in the small intestine.
Anna Pascual-Reguant,Anna Pascual-Reguant,J Bayat Sarmadi,Claudia Baumann,Claudia Baumann,R Noster,D Cirera-Salinas,C Curato,Penelope Pelczar,Samuel Huber,Christina E. Zielinski,Max Löhning,Max Löhning,Anja E. Hauser,Anja E. Hauser,Enric Esplugues,Enric Esplugues,Enric Esplugues +17 more
TL;DR: It is shown that TH17 cells accumulating in the small intestine upon inflammation express the IL-33 receptor (ST2) and intestinal epithelial cells (IEC) are the main source of the alarmin interleukin-33 (IL-33), and that pro-inflammatory TH17 Cells acquire a regulatory phenotype with immunosuppressive properties in response to IL- 33.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multiplexed histology analyses for the phenotypic and spatial characterization of human innate lymphoid cells
Anna Pascual-Reguant,Ralf Köhler,Ronja Mothes,Ronja Mothes,Sandy Bauherr,Daniela C. Hernández,Ralf Uecker,Ralf Uecker,Karolin Holzwarth,Katja Kotsch,Maximilian Seidl,Maximilian Seidl,Lars Philipsen,Werner Müller,Chiara Romagnani,Chiara Romagnani,Raluca A. Niesner,Raluca A. Niesner,Anja E. Hauser,Anja E. Hauser +19 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors combine a multiplexed immunofluorescence technique and a customized computational, open-source analysis pipeline to unambiguously identify CD127+ ILCs in situ and characterize these cells and their microenvironments.
Journal ArticleDOI
Human lungs show limited permissiveness for SARS-CoV-2 due to scarce ACE2 levels but virus-induced expansion of inflammatory macrophages
Katja Hönzke,Benedikt Obermayer,C. Mache,Diana Fathykova,Mirjana Kessler,Simon Dökel,Emanuel Wyler,Morris Baumgardt,Anna Löwa,Karen Hoffmann,Patrick Graff,Jessica Schulze,Maren Mieth,Katharina Hellwig,Zeynep Demir,Barbara Biere,Linda Brunotte,Angeles Mecate-Zambrano,Judy Bushe,Melanie Dohmen,Christian Hinze,Sefer Elezkurtaj,Mario Tönnies,Th. Bauer,S Eggeling,Hong-Linh Tran,Paul M. Schneider,Jens Neudecker,Jens C. Rückert,Kai M. Schmidt-Ott,Jonas Busch,Frederick Klauschen,David Horst,Helena Radbruch,Josefine Radke,Frank L. Heppner,Victor M. Corman,Daniela Niemeyer,Marcel A. Müller,Christine Goffinet,Ronja Mothes,Anna Pascual-Reguant,Anja E. Hauser,Dieter Beule,Markus Landthaler,Stephan Ludwig,Norbert Suttorp,Martin Witzenrath,Achim D. Gruber,Christian Drosten,Leif E. Sander,Thorsten Wolff,Stefan Hippenstiel,A. Hocker +53 more
TL;DR: It is indicated that severe lung injury in COVID-19 likely results from a macrophage triggered immune activation rather than direct viral damage of the alveolar compartment, thereby limiting SARS-CoV-2 propagation and virus-induced tissue damage in the human alveolus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interferon-Driven Immune Dysregulation in Common Variable Immunodeficiency–Associated Villous Atrophy and Norovirus Infection
Valentina Strohmeier,Geoffroy Andrieux,Susanne Unger,Anna Pascual-Reguant,Adam Klocperk,Maximilian Seidl,Otavio Cabral Marques,Marleen Eckert,Katja Gräwe,Michelle Shabani,Caroline von Spee-Mayer,David R. Friedmann,Ina Harder,Sylvia Gutenberger,Baerbel Keller,Michele Proietti,Alla Bulashevska,Bodo Grimbacher,Jan Provaznik,Vladimir Benes,Sigune Goldacker,Christoph Schell,Anja E. Hauser,Melanie Boerries,Peter Hasselblatt,Klaus Warnatz +25 more
TL;DR: In this paper , a mixed interferon type I/III and II signature was found in the absence of histopathological changes and increased with the severity of the disease and in absence of (IgA+) PCs.
