Journal ArticleDOI
A mitochondrial origin for frontotemporal dementia and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis through CHCHD10 involvement
Sylvie Bannwarth,Samira Ait-El-Mkadem,Annabelle Chaussenot,Emmanuelle C. Genin,Sandra Lacas-Gervais,Konstantina Fragaki,Laetitia Berg-Alonso,Yusuke Kageyama,Valérie Serre,David Moore,Annie Verschueren,Cécile Rouzier,Isabelle Le Ber,Gaëlle Augé,Charlotte Cochaud,Françoise Lespinasse,Karine Nguyen,Anne de Septenville,Alexis Brice,Patrick Yu-Wai-Man,Hiromi Sesaki,Jean Pouget,Véronique Paquis-Flucklinger +22 more
TL;DR: A large family with a late-onset phenotype including motor neuron disease, cognitive decline resembling frontotemporal dementia, cerebellar ataxia and myopathy is reported, showing that mitochondrial disease may be at the origin of some of these phenotypes.
Journal ArticleDOI
The MFN2 gene is responsible for mitochondrial DNA instability and optic atrophy ‘plus’ phenotype
Cécile Rouzier,Sylvie Bannwarth,Annabelle Chaussenot,Arnaud Chevrollier,Annie Verschueren,Nathalie Bonello-Palot,Konstantina Fragaki,Aline Cano,Jean Pouget,Jean-François Pellissier,Vincent Procaccio,Brigitte Chabrol,Véronique Paquis-Flucklinger +12 more
TL;DR: It is shown for the first time that impaired mitochondrial fusion is responsible for a deficiency to repair stress-induced mitochondrial DNA damage and it is likely that defect in mitochondrial DNA repair is due to variability in repair protein content across the mitochondrial population and is at least partially responsible for mitochondrial DNA instability.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mutations of the FHL1 Gene Cause Emery-Dreifuss Muscular Dystrophy
Lucie Gueneau,Lucie Gueneau,Anne Bertrand,Anne Bertrand,Jean-Philippe Jais,Mustafa A. Salih,Tanya Stojkovic,Tanya Stojkovic,Manfred Wehnert,Maria Hoeltzenbein,Simone Spuler,Shinji Saitoh,Annie Verschueren,Christine Tranchant,Maud Beuvin,Maud Beuvin,Emmanuelle Lacène,Norma B. Romero,Simon Heath,Diana Zelenika,Thomas Voit,Bruno Eymard,Rabah Ben Yaou,Rabah Ben Yaou,Gisèle Bonne,Gisèle Bonne +25 more
TL;DR: expression and functional studies demonstrated that the FHL1 proteins were severely reduced in all tested patients and that this was associated with a severe delay in myotube formation in the two patients for whom myoblasts were available.
Journal ArticleDOI
Causes of death amongst French patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: a prospective study.
J. Gil,Benoît Funalot,Annie Verschueren,Véronique Danel-Brunaud,William Camu,Nadia Vandenberghe,Claude Desnuelle,Nathalie Guy,Jean-Philippe Camdessanché,Pascal Cintas,L. Carluer,S. Pittion,G. Nicolas,Philippe Corcia,Marie-Céline Fleury,C. Maugras,Gérard Besson,G. Le Masson,Philippe Couratier +18 more
TL;DR: The functional status of patients immediately before death was determined and the causes of death and the circumstances surrounding death in 302 patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multifocal motor neuropathy with and without conduction block: A single entity?
Emilien Delmont,Jean-Philippe Azulay,Roch Giorgi,Shahram Attarian,Annie Verschueren,D. Uzenot,Jean Pouget +6 more
TL;DR: After a median follow-up time of 7 years, patients with and without conduction block showed similar clinical features and a similar response to IV immunoglobulin treatment.
