Journal ArticleDOI
Airway Epithelial Cell Immunity Is Delayed During Rhinovirus Infection in Asthma and COPD.
Punnam Chander Veerati,Niamh M. Troy,Andrew T. Reid,Ngan Fung Li,Kristy Nichol,Parwinder Kaur,Steven Maltby,Peter A. B. Wark,Peter A. B. Wark,Darryl A. Knight,Anthony Bosco,Christopher Grainge,Christopher Grainge,Nathan W. Bartlett +13 more
TL;DR: It is proposed that propensity for viral exacerbations of asthma and COPD relate to delayed (rather than deficient) expression of epithelial cell innate anti-viral immune genes which in turns leads to a delayed and ultimately more inflammatory host immune response.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessing the unified airway hypothesis in children via transcriptional profiling of the airway epithelium
Anthony Kicic,Emma de Jong,Kak-Ming Ling,Kristy Nichol,Denise Anderson,Peter A. B. Wark,Darryl A. Knight,Darryl A. Knight,Anthony Bosco,Stephen M. Stick,E. Kicic-Starcevich,Luke W. Garratt,Marc Padros-Goosen,Ee-Lyn Tan,Erika N. Sutanto,Kevin Looi,Jessica Hillas,Thomas Iosifidis,Nicole C. Shaw,Samuel T. Montgomery,K. Martinovich,Francis J. Lannigan,Ricardo Bergesio,Bernard Lee,Shyan Vijaya-Sekeran,Paul Swan,Mairead Heaney,Ian Forsyth,Tobias Schoep,Alexander N. Larcombe,Monica Hunter,Kate McGee,Nyssa Millington,Matthew Wee-Peng Poh,Matthew Wee-Peng Poh,Daniel R. Laucirica,Daniel R. Laucirica,C. Schofield,C. Reid,Su-Ling Loo,Su-Ling Loo,Punnam Chander Veerati,Punnam Chander Veerati +56 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the upper and lower airway are significantly conserved in their transcriptional composition, and that variations associated with disease are present in both nasal and tracheal epithelium.
Journal ArticleDOI
Protection against maternal infection-associated fetal growth restriction: proof-of-concept with a microbial-derived immunomodulator.
Naomi M. Scott,Jean-Francois Lauzon-Joset,Anya C. Jones,Kyle T Mincham,Niamh M. Troy,Jonatan Leffler,Michael Serralha,Susan L. Prescott,Sarah A. Robertson,C. Pasquali,Anthony Bosco,Patrick G. Holt,Deborah H. Strickland +12 more
TL;DR: This study suggests that broad-spectrum protection-of-pregnancy against infection-associated inflammatory stress, without compromising capacity for efficient pathogen eradication, represents an achievable therapeutic goal.
Journal ArticleDOI
Decoding Susceptibility to Respiratory Viral Infections and Asthma Inception in Children
James F. Read,Anthony Bosco +1 more
TL;DR: Exposure to microbes and their products reprograms innate immunity and provides protection from the development of allergies and asthma in children, and therefore microbial products are logical candidates for the primary prevention of asthma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bilateral murine tumor models for characterizing the response to immune checkpoint blockade.
Rachael M. Zemek,Vanessa S. Fear,Cath Forbes,Emma de Jong,Thomas H. Casey,Louis Boon,Timo Lassmann,Anthony Bosco,Michael Millward,Michael Millward,Anna K. Nowak,Anna K. Nowak,Richard A. Lake,W. Joost Lesterhuis +13 more
TL;DR: Bilateral murine tumor models, derived from syngeneic cancer cell lines, that display a symmetrical yet dichotomous response to ICB are described that enable detailed analysis of whole tumors in a highly homogeneous background and could potentially be used for mechanistic studies using other (immuno-)therapies.
