Journal ArticleDOI
Biofilm-induced changes to the composite surface.
Ivana Nedeljkovic,Jan De Munck,Andreea-Alexandra Ungureanu,Vera Slomka,Carmen Bartic,Anja Vananroye,Christian Clasen,Wim Teughels,Bart Van Meerbeek,Kirsten Van Landuyt +9 more
TL;DR: Investigation of the effect of single- and multi-species biofilms on the surface roughness and topography of two composites found S. mutans alone significantly increased the roughness of Tetric by 40.3%, while its effect on Gradia was lower (12%).
Journal ArticleDOI
Fatigue resistance of dentin/composite interfaces with an additional intermediate elastic layer.
Jan De Munck,Kirsten Van Landuyt,Eduardo Coutinho,André Poitevin,Marleen Peumans,Paul Lambrechts,Marc J. Braem,Bart Van Meerbeek +7 more
TL;DR: An additional elastic intermediate layer did decrease significantly the microrotary fatigue resistance (microRFR), but did not alter the microTBS, which most likely may be explained by the lower mechanical properties of the intermediary layer.

Caries Management - Science and Clinical Practice
H. Meyer-Lueckel,Sebastian Paris,Susanne Effenberger,Kim R. Ekstrand,Mohammad Alkilzy,Bennett T. Amaechi,Uwe Blunck,Wolfgang Buchalla,Brian H. Clarkson,Agata Czajka-Jakubowska,Christof Doerfer,Hafsteinn Eggertsson,Roland Frankenberger,Rainer Haak,Leandro Augusto Hilgert,Soraya Coelho Leal,Stefania Martignon,Vera Mendes Soviero,David Ricketts,Ulrich Schiffner,Christian Andres Schneider,Peter Shellis,Christian H. Splieth,Svante Twetman,Martin J. Tyas,Cornelis van Loveren,Bart Van Meerbeek,Michael J. Wicht,Yasuhiro Yoshida,Domenick T. Zero +29 more
TL;DR: Dental Caries: Science and Clinical Practice puts scientific principles into clinical action for the best results and is an essential resource for a complete, proactive approach to caries detection, assessment, treatment, management, and prevention in contemporary dental practice.
Journal Article
Microrotary fatigue resistance of a HEMA-free all-in-one adhesive bonded to dentin.
Jan De Munck,Akishi Arita,Kenichi Shirai,Kirsten Van Landuyt,Eduardo Coutinho,André Poitevin,Marleen Peumans,Paul Lambrechts,Bart Van Meerbeek +8 more
TL;DR: Ineffective drying and pooling of the adhesive in a narrow cavity diminished the effect of strong air drying of the all-in-one adhesive, although a very thorough (4 bar) and long air-drying procedure was employed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Freshly-mixed and setting calcium-silicate cements stimulate human dental pulp cells.
Mariano Simón Pedano,Xin Li,Shuchen Li,Zeyi Sun,Stevan M. Cokic,Eveline Putzeys,Kumiko Yoshihara,Yashuhiro Yoshida,Zhi Chen,Kirsten Van Landuyt,Bart Van Meerbeek +10 more
TL;DR: Using freshly-mixed and setting hCSCs is an appropriate approach to test the effect of the materials on human dental pulp cells, and the experimental material containing PPL is non-cytotoxic and positively stimulates HDPCs.
