TL;DR: In a population-based study in Iceland, children under 10 years of age and females had a lower incidence of SARS-CoV-2 infection than adolescents or adults and males and the proportion of infected participants identified through population screening remained stable for the 20-day duration of screening.

TL;DR: The authors' results indicate that antiviral antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 did not decline within 4 months after diagnosis, and antiviral antibody titers assayed by two pan-Ig assays remained on a plateau for the remainder of the study.

TL;DR: SARS-CoV-2 has spread widely in Iceland outside of the high-risk groups and to contain the pandemic the authors must increase the scope of the testing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Two Rare Mutations in the COL1A2 Gene Associate With Low Bone Mineral Density and Fractures in Iceland.
Unnur Styrkarsdottir,Gudmar Thorleifsson,Berglind Eiriksdottir,Sigurjon A. Gudjonsson,Thorvaldur Ingvarsson,Tuan V. Nguyen,Tuan V. Nguyen,John A. Eisman,Claus Christiansen,Unnur Thorsteinsdottir,Unnur Thorsteinsdottir,Gunnar Sigurdsson,Kari Stefansson,Kari Stefansson +13 more
TL;DR: A genome-wide association study of low bone mineral density (BMD) at the hip and spine utilizing sequence variants found through whole-genome sequencing of 2636 Icelanders found two rare missense mutations in the COL1A2 gene that associate with measures of osteoporosis in Icelanders.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors demonstrate that accumulation of mutations in SARS-CoV-2 genome can be exploited to track the rate of new viral generations throughout the different phases of the epidemic.
