Effect of compression ratio on performance, combustion and emission characteristics of a dual fuel diesel engine run on raw biogas

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of compression ratio on the performance, combustion and emission characteristics of a dual fuel diesel engine run on raw biogas was investigated, where a 3.5-kW single cylinder, direct injection, water cooled, variable compression ratio diesel engine is converted into a biogAS run dual-fuel diesel engine by connecting a venturi gas mixer at the manifold.
Journal ArticleDOI

Experimental evaluation of a rice bran biodiesel – biogas run dual fuel diesel engine at varying compression ratios

TL;DR: In this article, the effect of compression ratio on performance, combustion and emission characteristics of a rice bran biodiesel-biogas run dual fuel diesel engine was investigated, and experiments were conducted at three different compression ratios (CRs) of 18, 17.5 and 17, and at a fixed injection timing of 23° bottom top dead centre (BTDC) under different loading conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Optimisation of injection timing and compression ratio of a raw biogas powered dual fuel diesel engine

TL;DR: In this paper, the pilot fuel injection timing (IT) and compression ratio (CR) of a biogas run dual fuel diesel engine was optimized to eliminate the negative impact of the dual fuel combustion on the engine efficiency and environment.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative assessment of a biogas run dual fuel diesel engine with rice bran oil methyl ester, pongamia oil methyl ester and palm oil methyl ester as pilot fuels

TL;DR: In this article, the authors explored the potential of three different types of biodiesel viz. Rice bran oil methyl ester (RBME), Pongamia oil methyl enters (PME), and Palm oil methyl disters (POME) as pilot fuels for a biogas run dual fuel diesel engine designed for power generation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of Emulsified Palm Biodiesel as Pilot Fuel in a Biogas Run Dual Fuel Diesel Engine

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explored the influence of emulsified palm biodiesel as a pilot fuel in a biogas run dual fuel engine and found that with the presence of a microexplosion, emulsification of biodiesel can increase the magnitude of the peak cylinder pressure (PCP) which increases the expansion ratio and hence improves engine efficiency.
