A census of dense cores in the Aquila cloud complex: SPIRE/PACS observations from the Herschel Gould Belt survey

TL;DR: In this article, the results of the Herschel Gould Belt survey (HGBS) observations in an ~11 deg2 area of the Aquila molecular cloud complex at d ~ 260 pc, imaged with the SPIRE and PACS photometric cameras in parallel mode from 70 μm to 500 μm.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterizing the properties of nearby molecular filaments observed with Herschel

TL;DR: In this article, a detailed analysis of the filamentary structures identified with Herschel in eight nearby molecular clouds (at distances of about 1.5 km) was performed using the column density maps derived from Herschel data and the DisPerSE algorithm to trace a network of individual filament in each cloud.
Journal ArticleDOI

Testing the universality of the star-formation efficiency in dense molecular gas

TL;DR: In this paper, a wide-field mapping of the Aquila, Ophiuchus, and Orion B clouds at 0.04 pc resolution in the J = 1 − 0 transition of HCN, HCO +, and their isotopomers was conducted to calibrate the HCN and HCO+ lines commonly used as dense gas tracers in extragalactic studies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterizing the properties of nearby molecular filaments observed with Herschel

TL;DR: In this article, the authors use the column density maps derived from Herschel data and the DisPerSE algorithm to trace a network of filaments in each cloud and build synthetic maps to assess the completeness limit of the extracted sample and validate their measurements.
