Journal ArticleDOI
A dicyanobenzoquinone based cathode material for rechargeable lithium and sodium ion batteries
Hailong Lyu,Hailong Lyu,Charl J. Jafta,Ilja Popovs,Harry M. Meyer,Jordan A. Hachtel,Jingsong Huang,Bobby G. Sumpter,Sheng Dai,Sheng Dai,Xiao-Guang Sun +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a novel organic cathode material by anchoring a quinone compound, 2,3-dicyano-p-benzoquinone (DCBQ) with a high redox potential of 3.37 V vs. Li/Li+, onto carbon nanotubes (CNTs) (CNNs-DCBq) through a facile "grafting to" method was synthesized.
Journal ArticleDOI
Nitrogen-Doped Graphitic Nanoribbons: Synthesis, Characterization and Transport
Josue Ortiz-Medina,M. Luisa García-Betancourt,Xiaoting Jia,Rafael Martinez-Gordillo,Miguel A. Pelagio-Flores,David Swanson,Ana Laura Elías,Humberto R. Gutierrez,Eduardo Gracia-Espino,Vincent Meunier,Vincent Meunier,Jonathan R. Owens,Bobby G. Sumpter,Eduardo Cruz-Silva,Fernando J. Rodríguez-Macías,Florentino López-Urías,Emilio Muñoz-Sandoval,Mildred S. Dresselhaus,Humberto Terrones,Mauricio Terrones,Mauricio Terrones +20 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the Penn State Center for Nanoscale Science (MRSEC; NSF grant number DMR-0820404), for a seed grant on defect engineering in layered materials, is grateful to the Japanese regional Innovation Strategy Program by the Excellence.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of counterion size and backbone rigidity on the dynamics of ionic polymer melts and glasses
Yao Fu,Yao Fu,Vera Bocharova,Mengze Ma,Alexei P. Sokolov,Alexei P. Sokolov,Bobby G. Sumpter,Rajeev Kumar +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that theGlass transition temperature of ionic polymeric melts depends on the size of monovalent counterions in a non-monotonic manner and backbone rigidity is shown to increase the glass transition temperature and decrease the coupling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Edge-edge interactions in stacked graphene nanoplatelets.
Eduardo Cruz-Silva,Xiaoting Jia,Humberto Terrones,Bobby G. Sumpter,Mauricio Terrones,Mildred S. Dresselhaus,Vincent Meunier +6 more
TL;DR: Local interactions at the open edges are found to dictate stacking configurations that are different from Bernal (AB) stacking that are known to be otherwise absent in edge-free two-dimensional graphene.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structure and charging kinetics of electrical double layers at large electrode voltages
TL;DR: In this paper, the structure and charging kinetics of electrical double layers (EDLs) at interfaces of NaCl solutions and planar electrodes are studied by molecular dynamics (MD) and Poisson-Nernst-Planck (PNP) simulations.
