TL;DR: The experiments link SR-mediated tolerance to reduced levels of oxidant stress in bacterial cells, and inactivating this protective mechanism sensitized biofilms by several orders of magnitude to four different classes of antibiotics and markedly enhanced the efficacy of antibiotic treatment in experimental infections.

TL;DR: Gallium had therapeutic effects without toxicity in cystic fibrosis patients infected with Pseudomonas, suggesting that gallium may be useful for treating bacterial infections, and raises the possibility that human infections could be treated by targeting iron metabolism or other nutritional vulnerabilities of bacterial pathogens.

TL;DR: Under certain conditions DMPO-OH is the predominant spin-trapped adduct resulting from neutrophil superoxide production, perhaps due to cellular bioreduction of D MPO-OOH to DMPo-OH.
