Journal ArticleDOI

Magnetotransport properties of magnetically soft spin‐valve structures (invited)

TL;DR: In this article, the magnetic and magnetotransport properties of several series of sandwiches consisting of two ferromagnetic layers (Ni, Co, Ni80Fe20) separated by a noble metal (Cu, Ag, Au) are described.
Journal ArticleDOI

Design, fabrication and testing of spin-valve read heads for high density recording

TL;DR: In this article, the spin-valve sensors of the type NiFe/Cu/Co have been designed for optimal biasing behavior and successfully incorporated into a gigabit-type shielded read head configuration with a read trackwidth of 2 /spl mu/m, a read gap of 0.25 /spl µ/m and a MR sensor height of 1 /spl mm/m.
Journal ArticleDOI

Antiferromagnetically coupled magnetic media layers for thermally stable high-density recording

TL;DR: In this paper, a magnetic recording medium composed of two ferromagnetic layers separated by a nonmagnetic layer whose thickness is tuned to couple the layers antiferromagneticically.

Magnetoresistive spin valve sensor having a nonmagnetic back layer

TL;DR: In this article, the spin valve effect was applied to a magnetoresistive read sensor based on spin valve effects, where a component of the read element resistance varies as the cosine of the angle between the magnetization directions in two adjacent magnetic layers.
