Journal ArticleDOI

Virus-like particles: flexible platforms for vaccine development

TL;DR: This review discusses the development of VLP-based platform technologies for vaccines against pathogens, as well as nontraditional targets such as self-antigens involved in chronic diseases.
Journal Article

High-Risk Human Papillomavirus Is Sexually Transmitted: Evidence from a Follow-Up Study of Virgins Starting Sexual Activity (Intercourse)

TL;DR: The results show that sexual intercourse is important in the transmission of HPV, and that HPV 16 VLP seroconversion and the development of cervical lesions only occur after HPV transmission, and no cervical lesions were found in HPV 16 DNA positive women who had seroconverted.
Journal ArticleDOI

Human immunodeficiency virus type 1 coreceptors participate in postentry stages in the virus replication cycle and function in simian immunodeficiency virus infection.

TL;DR: These studies suggest that there are interactions among the coreceptor, the viral envelope, and another viral gene product that govern postentry steps of virus replication that are consistent with the hypothesis that such interactions may be required for translocation of the virus core to the nucleus.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cell-Specific Delivery of Diverse Cargos by Bacteriophage MS2 Virus-Like Particles

TL;DR: The results demonstrate that MS2 VLPs, because of their tolerance of multivalent peptide display and their ability to specifically encapsidate a variety of chemically disparate cargos, induce selective cytotoxicity of cancer in vitro and represent a significant improvement in the characteristics of VLP-based delivery systems.
