Journal ArticleDOI
Correlation of the development of knee pain with enlarging bone marrow lesions on magnetic resonance imaging
David T. Felson,Jingbo Niu,Ali Guermazi,Frank W. Roemer,Piran Aliabadi,Margaret Clancy,James C. Torner,C. Elizabeth Lewis,Michael C. Nevitt +8 more
TL;DR: Development of knee pain is associated with an increase in BMLs as revealed on MRI, and multiple logistic regression was used to assess whether an increased BML score is predictive of the development of kneePain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Valgus malalignment is a risk factor for lateral knee osteoarthritis incidence and progression: Findings from the multicenter osteoarthritis study and the osteoarthritis initiative
David T. Felson,David T. Felson,Jingbo Niu,K. Douglas Gross,K. Douglas Gross,Martin Englund,Martin Englund,Leena Sharma,T. Derek V. Cooke,Ali Guermazi,Frank W. Roemer,Neil A. Segal,Joyce Goggins,C. Elizabeth Lewis,Charles B. Eaton,Michael C. Nevitt +15 more
TL;DR: A strong relationship of valgus malalignment with progressive lateral meniscal damage is found, which may cause these effects, in part, by increasing the risk of meniscalDamage.
Journal Article
A new approach yields high rates of radiographic progression in knee osteoarthritis.
David T. Felson,Michael C. Nevitt,Mei Yang,Margaret Clancy,Jingbo Niu,James C. Torner,C. Elizabeth Lewis,Piran Aliabadi,Burton Sack,Charles E. McCulloch,Yuqing Zhang +10 more
TL;DR: PA and lateral views obtained in persons at high risk of OA progression can produce a cumulative incidence of progression above 50% at 30 months, and a new approach using multiple views and compartments that is likely to be more sensitive to change and reveals progression throughout the knee is proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pre-pregnancy kidney function and subsequent adverse pregnancy outcomes.
Emily W. Harville,Janet M. Catov,C. Elizabeth Lewis,Kirsten Bibbins-Domingo,Erica P. Gunderson +4 more
TL;DR: No strong evidence for an association between preconception kidney function in the normal range and birthweight or gestational age was found, and possible racial differences in these relationships warrant further examination.
Journal ArticleDOI
Comparing the functional impact of knee replacements in two cohorts.
Jingbo Niu,Michael C. Nevitt,Charles E. McCulloch,James C. Torner,C. Elizabeth Lewis,Jeffrey N. Katz,David T. Felson +6 more
TL;DR: Functional status of subjects with knee OA in MOST improved more than in OAI, probably because of higher rates of TKRs, and the decline suggests that TKR diminishes the functional impact of Oa in the community.
