AGATA - Advanced GAmma Tracking Array

Serkan Akkoyun, +378 more
TL;DR: The Advanced GAmma Tracking Array (AGATA) as discussed by the authors is a European project to develop and operate the next generation gamma-ray spectrometer, which is based on the technique of energy tracking in electrically segmented high-purity germanium crystals.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evidence for the wobbling mode in nuclei.

TL;DR: Evidence is presented for the assignment of the excited T SD band as a wobbling mode built on the yrast TSD band, based on comparisons to new calculations in which an aligned particle is coupled to a strongly deformed triaxial rotor.
Journal ArticleDOI

Influence of complex surface vibrations on the fusion of 58Ni+60Ni.

TL;DR: The data yield an experimental distribution of fusion barriers'' around 13 MeV wide, which displays structure characteristic of strong phonon couplings with two large well resolved'' peaks, and a smaller peak at lower energies, which is essential for fitting the low-energy cross section.
Journal ArticleDOI

One- and two-phonon wobbling excitations in triaxial 165Lu

TL;DR: In this article, two new excited rotational bands have been discovered with features similar to a previously known triaxial superdeformed band in the Lu-165 nucleus, and they belong to a family of wobbling excitations with phonon numbers n(w) = 0, 1 and 2.
