Journal ArticleDOI
Genomic gain of 5p15 leads to over-expression of Misu (NSUN2) in breast cancer
Michaela Frye,Ilaria Dragoni,Suet-Feung Chin,Immaculada Spiteri,Agata Kurowski,Elena Provenzano,Andrew R. Green,Ian O. Ellis,Donna Grimmer,Andrew E. Teschendorff,Christos C. Zouboulis,Carlos Caldas,Fiona M. Watt +12 more
TL;DR: Examination of expression of the Myc target gene Misu in breast cancer concludes that Misu is up-regulated in a substantial proportion of breast cancers and has therapeutic potential as a drug target.
Journal ArticleDOI
Fine Scale mapping of the breast cancer 16q12 locus
Miriam S. Udler,Shahana Ahmed,Catherine S. Healey,Kerstin B. Meyer,J. P. Struewing,Melanie Maranian,Erika M. Kwon,Jinghui Zhang,Jonathan Tyrer,Eric Karlins,Radka Platte,Bolot Kalmyrzaev,Ed Dicks,Helen I. Field,Ana-Teresa Maia,Radhika Prathalingam,Andrew E. Teschendorff,Stewart McArthur,David R. Doody,Robert Luben,Carlos Caldas,Leslie Bernstein,Laurence K. Kolonel,Brian E. Henderson,Anna H. Wu,Loic Le Marchand,Giske Ursin,Michael F. Press,Annika Lindblom,Sara Margolin,Chen-Yang Shen,Show Lin Yang,Chia-Ni Hsiung,Daehee Kang,Keun-Young Yoo,Dong Young Noh,Sei Hyun Ahn,Kathleen E. Malone,Christopher A. Haiman,Paul D.P. Pharoah,Bruce A.J. Ponder,Elaine A. Ostrander,Douglas F. Easton,Alison M. Dunning +43 more
TL;DR: A set of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers were used to generate a fine-scale map and narrowed the region of association to a 133 kb DNA segment containing the largely uncharacterized hypothetical gene LOC643714, a short intergenic region and the 5' end of TOX3.
Journal ArticleDOI
PACK: Profile Analysis using Clustering and Kurtosis to find molecular classifiers in cancer
TL;DR: A novel feature selection procedure based on a mixture model and a non-gaussianity measure of a gene's expression profile is presented, which can be used to find genes that define either small outlier subgroups or major subdivisions, depending on the sign of kurtosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Therapeutic relevance of the PP2A-B55 inhibitory kinase MASTL/Greatwall in breast cancer
Mónica Álvarez-Fernández,María Sanz-Flores,Belén Sanz-Castillo,María Salazar-Roa,David Partida,Elisabet Zapatero-Solana,H. Raza Ali,Eusebio Manchado,Scott W. Lowe,Todd VanArsdale,David Shields,Carlos Caldas,Miguel Quintela-Fandino,Marcos Malumbres +13 more
TL;DR: It is shown that MASTL overexpression predicts poor survival and shows prognostic value in breast cancer patients and that genetic ablation of MastL displays a significant therapeutic effect in vivo, suggesting that the PP2A inhibitory kinase MASTl may have both prognostic and therapeutic value in human breast cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression of androgen receptor splice variants in clinical breast cancers
Theresa E. Hickey,Connie M. Irvine,Heidi Dvinge,Gerard A. Tarulli,Adrienne R. Hanson,Natalie K. Ryan,Marie A. Pickering,Stephen N. Birrell,Dong Gui Hu,Peter I. Mackenzie,Roslin Russell,Carlos Caldas,Ganesh V. Raj,Scott M. Dehm,Stephen R. Plymate,Robert K. Bradley,Wayne D. Tilley,Luke A. Selth +17 more
TL;DR: Ex vivo evidence is provided that AR-V7 is upregulated by the AR antagonist enzalutamide in primary breast tumors, which has implications for treatment response in the ongoing clinical trials of ADT in breast cancer.
