Journal ArticleDOI

High Potential Source for Biomass Degradation Enzyme Discovery and Environmental Aspects Revealed through Metagenomics of Indian Buffalo Rumen

TL;DR: The hierarchical clustering of buffalo metagenomes demonstrated the similarities and dissimilarity in microbial community structures and functional capacity, demonstrating that buffalo rumen microbiome was considerably enriched in functional genes involved in polysaccharide degradation with great prospects to obtain new molecules that may be applied in the biofuel industry.
Journal ArticleDOI

Shotgun metagenomic sequencing based microbial diversity assessment of Lasundra hot spring, India

TL;DR: This is the first report on the metagenomic approach for unveiling the microbial diversity of Lasundra hot spring, Gujarat State, India, with high-throughput sequencing of community DNA performed on an Ion Torrent PGM platform.
Journal ArticleDOI

Metagenomic analysis of virulence-associated and antibiotic resistance genes of microbes in rumen of Indian buffalo (Bubalus bubalis).

TL;DR: Meetagenomic data can be used to track potential targets and relative amounts of antibiotic resistance genes in individual animals and generate antibiotic resistance gene profiles to facilitate an understanding of the ecology of the microbial communities in each habitat as well as the epidemiology of antibiotic resistant gene transport between and among habitats.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genetic variability and bottleneck studies in Zalawadi, Gohilwadi and Surti goat breeds of Gujarat (India) using microsatellites

TL;DR: Non-significant heterozygote excess on the basis of IAM, TPM and SMM models, as revealed from Wilcoxon sign-rank tests, indicated no bottleneck in Zalawadi and Gohilwadi goat populations, whereas mild bottleneck in the recent past for Surti breed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Comparative evaluation of rumen metagenome community using qPCR and MG-RAST

TL;DR: In this article, qPCR based absolute quantification of selected rumen microbes in the liquid and solid fraction of the rumen fluid of river buffalo adapted to varying proportion of concentrate to green or dry roughages and compared with the MG-RAST based annotation of the metagenomes sequences of 16S r-DNA amplicons and high throughput shotgun sequencing.
