A data stream is created based upon the monitor data. The data stream is spread with a common pseudo-noise (PN) code that is used by a plurality of nodes in communication with an access point. The spread data stream is transmitted at a first time based on a slot start time and a first randomly selected timing offset. The spread data stream is transmitted while at least a portion of a second spread data stream is transmitted at a second time based on the slot start time and a second randomly selected timing offset. The second spread data stream is spread with the common PN code.

A technique of operating a wireless communication system includes determining respective geometries of multiple subscriber stations, which include a first subscriber station and a second subscriber station, with respect to a serving base station. Respective channel sounding bandwidths for sounding the channel between the multiple subscriber stations and the serving base station are then scheduled, based on the respective geometries. The respective channel sounding bandwidths include a first channel sounding bandwidth (associated with the first subscriber station) and a second channel sounding bandwidth (associated with the second subscriber station). The first channel sounding bandwidth is greater than or equal to the second channel sounding bandwidth and the first subscriber station has a lower geometry than the second subscriber station.

Channel Sounding Techniques for a Wireless Communication System

Provided are an apparatus and method for measuring a carrier-to-interference-and-noise ratio (CINR) using a downlink preamble in a digital communication system. More particularly, provided are an apparatus and method that measure CINRs using preambles of received signals respectively corresponding to a plurality of cells or sectors and perform handover and reverse power control using the CINRs in a digital communication system employing an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technique or orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) technique. According to the apparatus and method, it is possible to easily measure CINRs and perform handover and reverse power control using the measured CINRs. Therefore, deterioration in performance can be reduced even in a poor channel environment by maintaining a CINR received by a base station at an appropriate level.

Apparatus and Method For Measuring Carrier-To-Interference-and-Noise Ratio Using Downlink Preamble

A system and method for Access Point (AP) channel selection based upon a Channel Quality Index (CQI) is described. The Channel Quality Index (CQI) is a value which quantifies a transmission quality of a channel. The transmission quality is evaluated based on a combination of different types of measured interference in the channel. In one embodiment the different types of measured interference include co-channel congestion, adjacent channel interference and in-band interference. The CQI is a value derived from the measurements, and for example may be a sum of all of the measurements. Each AP of the present invention determines the CQI of potential transmission channels, and selects a channel for use which has the ‘best’ CQI; for example if the CQI is a sum of all measured interferences, the ‘best’ AP is the one with the lowest CQI

System and method for determining channel quality in a wireless network

A communication terminal reports the CQI about all of the subchannels included in the bandwidth of a communication channel during a first CQI report, as shown in the upper figure portion. Unlike the first report, during the second and following CQI reports, in which much time is left in terms of the permissible delay time, the communication terminal reports the CQI only about subchannels 1 and 2 assigned by the second and following frequency assignments, as shown in the lower figure portion.

A method and apparatus for estimating interference and noise power in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing/orthogonal frequency division multiple access/discrete multi-tone (OFDM/OFDMA/DMT) system is disclosed. A correlator correlates a plurality of sub-carriers with a preset reference sequence on an element-by-element basis and outputs a result of the correlation. A signal noise producer calculates a difference between a correlation value associated with each of the plurality of sub-carriers output from the correlator and a correlation value produced from at least one adjacent sub-carrier and outputs a result of the calculation. An interference and noise power producer produce interference and noise power from the difference between the correlation values calculated by the signal noise producer.

Apparatus and method for estimating interference and noise in a communication system

The demand for mobile DRAM has increased, with a requirement for high density, high data rates, and low-power consumption to support applications such as 5G communication, multiple cameras, and automotive. Thus, density has increased from 2Gb [1] to 16Gb [2] in LPDDR4 and LPDDR4X, but the maximum density for LPDDR5 is only 12Gb [3] due to the limited package size specification: such as a 496-ball FBGA. In this work, a mosaic architecture is introduced to increase the density to 16Gb, even in a limited package size. Additionally, the I/O performance is improved by shortening the length for the top metal, and a short-feedback sense amplifier (SA) with dedicated VREFs for a 1-tap DFE. The side effect of a mosaic architecture is the performance of the internal DRAM due to a 1.64× long bus line; however, this is mitigated by a fully-source-synchronous (FSS) bus scheme that is robust to PVT variation. In addition, to reduce the power consumption of the long bus line a low-level swing (LLS) scheme is used in low frequency mode. Furthermore, to enhance power efficiency and yield an adaptive-body-bias (ABB) scheme is introduced in a 3rd generation of a 10nm DRAM process.
