Journal ArticleDOI
Mutations in SLC20A2 link familial idiopathic basal ganglia calcification with phosphate homeostasis.
Cheng Wang,Yulei Li,Lei Shi,Jie Ren,Monica Patti,Tao Wang,João Ricardo Mendes de Oliveira,María Jesús Sobrido,Beatriz Quintáns,Miguel Baquero,Xiaoniu Cui,Xiang Yang Zhang,Lianqing Wang,Haibo Xu,Junhan Wang,Jing Yao,Xiaohua Dai,Juan Liu,Lu Zhang,Hongying Ma,Yong Gao,Xixiang Ma,Shenglei Feng,Mugen Liu,Qing Kenneth Wang,Ian C. Forster,Xue Zhang,Jingyu Liu +27 more
TL;DR: These results implicate altered phosphate homeostasis in the etiology of IBGC and identify mutations in SLC20A2, encoding the type III sodium-dependent phosphate transporter 2 (PiT2), in IBGC-affected families of varied ancestry.
Journal ArticleDOI
Gain-of-Function Mutations in SCN11A Cause Familial Episodic Pain
Xiang Yang Zhang,Jingmin Wen,Wei Yang,Cheng Wang,Luna Gao,Liang Hong Zheng,Tao Wang,Kaikai Ran,Yulei Li,Xiangyang Li,Ming Xu,Junyu Luo,Shenglei Feng,Xixiang Ma,Hongying Ma,Zuying Chai,Zhuan Zhou,Jing Yao,Jing Yao,Xue Zhang,Jingyu Liu +20 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that gain-of-function mutations in SCN11A can be causative of an autosomal-dominant episodic pain disorder.
Journal ArticleDOI
ApoE-Isoform-Dependent SARS-CoV-2 Neurotropism and Cellular Response.
Cheng Wang,Mingzi Zhang,Gustavo Garcia,E Tian,Qi Cui,Xianwei Chen,Guihua Sun,Jinhui Wang,Vaithilingaraja Arumugaswami,Yanhong Shi +9 more
TL;DR: ApoE4, a strong genetic risk factor for Alzheimer disease, has been associated with increased risk for severe COVID-19 as discussed by the authors, but it is unclear whether ApoE4 alters COVID19 susceptibility or severity, and the role of direct viral infection in brain cells remains obscure.
Journal ArticleDOI
Modeling Human Cytomegalovirus-Induced Microcephaly in Human iPSC-Derived Brain Organoids.
Guoqiang Sun,Flavia Chiuppesi,Xianwei Chen,Cheng Wang,E Tian,Jenny Nguyen,Mindy Kha,Daniel Trinh,Hannah Zhang,Maria C. Marchetto,Hongjun Song,Guo Li Ming,Fred H. Gage,Don J. Diamond,Felix Wussow,Yanhong Shi +15 more
TL;DR: It is shown that infection of human-induced pluripotent-stem-cell-derived brain organoids by a “clinical-like” HCMV strain results in reduced brain organoid growth, impaired formation of cortical layers, and abnormal calcium signaling and neural network activity and can be prevented by neutralizing antibodies that recognize the H CMV pentamer complex.
Journal ArticleDOI
Targeting PUS7 suppresses tRNA pseudouridylation and glioblastoma tumorigenesis
Qi Cui,Kailin Yin,Xiaoting Zhang,Peng Ye,Xianwei Chen,Jianfei Chao,Haowei Meng,Jiangbo Wei,Jiangbo Wei,Daniel Roeth,Li Li,Yue Qin,Guihua Sun,Mingzi Zhang,Jeremy Klein,Marvin Huynhle,Cheng Wang,Leying Zhang,Behnam Badie,Markus Kalkum,Chuan He,Chengqi Yi,Yanhong Shi +22 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the pseudouridine synthase P US7 is highly expressed in glioblastoma versus normal brain tissues, and high PUS7 expression levels are associated with worse survival in glooblastomas patients, and preclinical evidence of a potential therapeutic strategy for gliOBlastoma is provided.
