Journal ArticleDOI
Opposite effects of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabidiol on human brain function and psychopathology.
Sagnik Bhattacharyya,Paul D. Morrison,Paolo Fusar-Poli,Paolo Fusar-Poli,Rocio Martin-Santos,Stefan Borgwardt,Stefan Borgwardt,Toby T. Winton-Brown,Chiara Nosarti,Colin M O' Carroll,Marc L. Seal,Paul Allen,Mitul A. Mehta,James M. Stone,Nigel Tunstall,Vincent Giampietro,Shitij Kapur,Robin M. Murray,Antonio Waldo Zuardi,José Alexandre de Souza Crippa,Zerrin Atakan,Philip McGuire +21 more
TL;DR: Functional magnetic resonance imaging in healthy volunteers found that Δ-9-THC and CBD can have opposite effects on regional brain function, which may underlie their different symptomatic and behavioral effects, and CBD's ability to block the psychotogenic effects of Δ- 9- THC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Progressive increase of frontostriatal brain activation from childhood to adulthood during event-related tasks of cognitive control.
Katya Rubia,Anna B. Smith,James Woolley,Chiara Nosarti,Isobel Heyman,Eric Taylor,Mick Brammer +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, rapid, randomized, mixed-trial event-related fMRI was used to investigate developmental differences of the neural networks mediating motor and cognitive inhibition functions in a sizeable number of adolescents and adults.
Journal ArticleDOI
Amygdala, Hippocampal and Corpus Callosum Size Following Severe Early Institutional Deprivation: The English and Romanian Adoptees Study Pilot.
Mitul A. Mehta,Nicole I. Golembo,Chiara Nosarti,Emma Colvert,Ashley Mota,Steven Williams,Michael Rutter,Edmund J.S. Sonuga-Barke,Edmund J.S. Sonuga-Barke,Edmund J.S. Sonuga-Barke +9 more
TL;DR: The adoption into the UK of children who have been reared in severely deprived conditions provides an opportunity to study possible association between very early negative experiences and subsequent brain development and the need for future studies to confirm the sensitivity of the amygdala to early deprivation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Adolescents who were born very preterm have decreased brain volumes
TL;DR: Individuals who were born very preterm continue to show noticeable decrements in brain volumes and striking increases in lateral ventricular volume into adolescence, and the functional significance of these abnormalities merits further investigation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Preterm Birth and Psychiatric Disorders in Young Adult Life
Chiara Nosarti,Abraham Reichenberg,Robin M. Murray,Sven Cnattingius,Mats Lambe,Li Yin,James H. MacCabe,Larry Rifkin,Christina M. Hultman +8 more
TL;DR: Preterm birth was significantly associated with increased risk of psychiatric hospitalization in adulthood in a monotonic manner across a range of psychiatric disorders.
