Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of a Novel Hepacivirus in Domestic Cattle from Germany

TL;DR: Interestingly, quantitative RT-PCR from different organs and tissues, together with the presence of an miR-122 binding site in the viral genome, strongly suggests a liver tropism for bovine hepacivirus, making this novel virus a promising animal model for HCV infections in humans.
Journal ArticleDOI

Prevalence of Hepatitis E virus-specific antibodies in sera of German domestic pigs estimated by using different assays.

TL;DR: Though the present study revealed a high seroprevalence of HEV in the German domestic pig population and a potential risk of transmission to humans, the differing results of the tests highlight the necessity of a standardization of serological assays for comparative serop revalence and longitudinal studies.
